  1. This is a helpful place. Every time I see anyone on any forum tell someone to use the search I want to poke them in the eye with a sharp stick.
  2. It is so that the lace will pull in with less stretch and less wear on it. If you pull it in un-lubricated it can look tattered by the time you get the lacing done.
  3. I am interested. Snake or ostrich would be awesome. Pics would help a lot. Interested in wallet sized pieces. Price? Aaron
  4. I like the pully. I made one very similar a few weeks ago for my Pfaff. I did not have the 3 groves, just two. I was going for as much reduction as possible.
  5. First you will need a monster trap... talk to a kid on how to make one. Once you catch the monster you will need to skin and tan it... It gets messy. I am guessing they used some embossing, filled the back with a plug (leather filler) and just hand formed it into shape. It looks cool. Aaron
  6. I use beeswax on thread for hand sewing. I use paraffin on lace. They do not interchange well for the two, one is sticky, one is slippery. Aaron
  7. Mike, Is the video a different price than the interactive class? Bob Beard and Paul Zalesak are two of my favorite leather guys. I have learned a lot from both, they are a great choice for teachers. Aaron
  8. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/home/infoandservices/leathercraft--classes/leathercraft-classes.aspx#Portland-OR I will be gone for the next few weeks, but there should be someone running the group.
  9. Every second Saturday we meet at Tandy. The opposing Saturdays there are other direct classes, sometimes by me, sometimes by others. This is the big one: Bob Beard will be teaching a notebook class in Portland in September. Cleaning up some final details and then I will post more. Aaron
  10. Hello to both of you. As much as there is in Portland of an organized group I sort of lead it. We meet at Tandy every other week and work on projects (I also do some of the classes too). Contact me if you have questions. Aaron
  11. Hello an welcome. You will learn a lot here. It does look like you are off to a great start. I am troubled with what a toilet bag is though.... If you could send me a piece of elephant I would happily send you money. Aaron
  12. A kangaroo with 10 feet is just silly. Think about how would it bounce around. It would look more like a cross between a lizard and a centipede.
  13. You have it. A ruler, pressed down very snug, pull the knife along it.
  14. The cards in the slot in front of it would stop any impression from transferring through. The pattern I have been using lately is very similar to this design, it works well to keep the bulk down in the wallet.
  15. With the shape of the building it would look good with an old town sherif theme on the outside. Looks like a good space.
  16. Barry,A couple questions. Are the blades diamond shaped or rounded on the sides? Also, are they hardened? If so, how hard are they? They look good. Aaron
  17. You can easily use a nail. Snip it where it sticks through and a rivet set can be made from a small rod with s divot drilled into the end.
  18. If this is a costume I would try spray paint. Fast and easy, but likely not overly durable.
  19. It looks like just a basic rivet. Think of a piece of wire with both ends smashed. Or a nail with the sharp end smashed.
  20. Interesting. I would have never suspected it to still be damp after a couple days. Aaron
