  1. Guess what we bought today.....her name is Coco Now I better make a nice collar for her, she comes home Friday.
  2. and people trip over themselves and pay a fortune to get these status symbol bags.....if it was handmade and real leather I could understand
  3. Totally agree with you BillyMac. I like the idea of re-purposing the old item's leather. Recycle it instead of chucking it and letting it rot. You will only harvest a small amount of useful leather to make a small item for a single person who already purchased the original (ie the company got paid already) and has sentimental attachment to the leather. What that etsy seller is doing looks a little greasy to me
  4. The ones I looked at were either filthy or like Swiss cheese. Have you ever noticed that defects are always right in the middle of the largest, useful area!!
  5. Here is a posting from etsy. Is this ok or not??? IMHO I think not, it is a legal action waiting to happen. "http://www.etsy.com/...earch_type=all"
  6. I wanted some for lining projects, but after pulling 10 hides, I couldn't find one with any useable sq ftage...holes, scrapes and or really dirty. They all looked like seconds (or thirds) to me Too bad as it has a lovely soft feel and a great smoking white look...when clean which obviously isn't for long.
  7. Gheeze, what was wrong with that lovely plastic roll they came in?? Picky picky Yours looks great, this is something I have had on my "a-round-tuit"list for a while now. Any thoughts on metal corrosion issues with leather and or suede?? Chrome tan vs veg tan best to use?
  8. Dude, you have been holding out Those are both GORGEOUS!!! Very professional looking, I am impressed

Nice looking saddle and workbench in the background. I am a born and raised Kamloops boy, now living in Lower Mainland
  10. Ya, that is the size I am talking about ...it fills the whole $%#ing screen. You would have to hit the save button on the LR to see the photo on here.... that drives me nuts(er)
  11. You, sir, are Awesome.....got it. Wife is making me shut down for now, but "I'll Be Back"
  12. I had a poor Tandy service experience today, grumpy guy who is usually chatty and helpful. If their parent company prints out a sales brochure, then the stores should have the pricing marked. He argued with me about what was on sale or not...I had to shove the mailing into his nose to get the correct price. He must have had a bad night or something. I spent a lot less than I would have otherwise.

You know what WScott? Why don't you go back when you are in that area. Bring him a treat, cookies or something. He probably got reamed by his boss or just didn't feel good. A kind gesture might turn him around.

  13. Whoops, must have been another one in Scotland -Aero Leather jackets that was what I was looking at but not a course. Ya good points. I have learned tons here and in books. You never know how a hands on face to face teacher will be..... If they are too "my way or highway" then forget it, my personality doesn't allow that and I tune out. Show me some stuff, teach me your ways and I will incorporate what I like and can use in my hands. If I ever do get to go on a European Vacation, my wife wants to do a cooking course in Tuscany and I could do some leather stuff somewhere??? I have the luxury that this is all for fun, not a job
  14. Sorry, it turned into one of those enormous page filling annoying pictures. It is just a pic of my workbench and window.....it is in my gallery at the end of 'computer bag ' It is hard to re size and adjust Mac/Apple photos on here. I have been email reducing them but that one is HUGE
  15. You gotta go for it.....and show lots of pics! On another topic, I am in Canada with Scottish background; was just looking at some leather working courses in Scotland. Any thoughts? "http://www.leathercourses.co.uk/"
  16. You can still put your own spin on it White leather would look cool!!
