  1. OUTSTANDING. Sme year as my 29 Fargo and if you look at the picture you will see many similarities as they were both products of those great Dodge Brothers. I claim them as kin, somewhat. I know you will be happy to cruz in the buggy whenever time permits. Great workmanship is apparent and the straps look super. Wish I could work on mine again but those days are long gone. Mine has 318 coupled to 727 automatic. Greatest ride I have ever had and now time to say goodbye to all the fun. Great memories. Hope you post more when it is road ready. Exciting to watch it happen. God Bless. Ray
  2. Keep at it Shagey. Great job and will get better as you go. Plenty of ways to burnish, using glass burnisher, tandy nylon and their wooden multi slotted tool, which is a good hand tool. They also have bone folders and more. You can go the dremel route or use drill/drill press methods and some folks use antler pieces. So many ways to do it and all in what you as an individual find works best for you. Try them all as it is a great learning experience and sure you will develop your own technique. Enjoy----- God Bless. Ray

  4. I know that several folks on the site have access to lasers but as far as "reasonable costs" for a laser, I don't know what that would mean. The units that I have seen are above $2000.00 plus, so I suppose a search on google would give you a good idea of what the market has available now. A number of small units have hit the market in the recent past but don't remember who made them. Good luck with your search. God Bless. Ray

  10. Hello Billymac, Appears as though the setters are working out for you. I use a rubber mat as shown in the video, when laying out and setting spots in a line or small pattern. When doing a straight line, I begin with first spot at one edge and allow it to penetrate the mat, which in turn, holds the piece in place while I set the remaining spots. At times, I can just do a pattern/design in center of mat using the same principal. When setting a large amount of the spots it was easier for me to just flip it and tap the tabs flat with tack hammer or other tool. Didn't have to move the anvil around when using that method. Anything that works, is the order of the day, I suppose. God Bless. Ray

  20. Hello Alicetime, All of the advice given works, some better than others, and big factor is leather used originally and products used during the finishing phase. I have used saddle soap, glycerin when I thought it would assist, acetone as well and even a combination of various cleaning products while experimenting. I have refinished, mostly in black, some with blue undercoat, and other dye products, such as Angelus Chocolate, which appears to be almost black, on some leathers. Nothing to lose and much to gain. Hope it works out and you end up with a fantastic bag. Neat things to do. God Bless. Ray
