  1. Yes Ferg, That can be done and it is a bit more than the $100.00 I have offered this one for. Felt that the difference would compensate for the shipping charge. Hate to take the loss but when things change we sometimes have to adapt. At my station in life, I have to adapt to things that I never thought would become major issues. lol. Comes with the aging process, I suppose. God Bless. Ray
  2. Howdy All, Having bit of difficulty with hands lately and want to do some lap skiving on a few items. Have been looking around and found a couple of items on eBay and wondering if anyone has any information about these items. Listed by: bantamsaddletack Item no. 271190154840 Price for both the skiver and splitter: $ 234.99 with free shipping. No idea how to get the information onto the site. Please forgive. Would appreciate any advice or assistance along these lines. God Bless. Ray
  3. I suppose it is time for me to cry, "UNCLE", and say, I give up, trying to obtain information about the neat embossing machine made by Amish Folk in New York. No matter how hard I try, I cannot seem to find anyone that can give me any information about the machine. Frustrating to find something that would do what you would like to do and then not be able to get info about machine, specs, capabilities, price, etc. Feel like they must be made on another planet and all I can do is sit and cry. lol. Another operation I would like to have done but Tippmann, Tandy machines would not do what I had hoped to do. Nobody seems to own one of these other than one gent here on the site but he also does not have the info I would like to have. Has been as helpful as he could be and appreciate his kindness. Oh well, I'll get out my crying towel and forget this project. Sure I am not the first to have such a problem. ckl. God Bless Everyone. Ray
  4. I do have a rubber pad on one of my benches and it is a great work surface. It is a pad cut from printers mat as used on press. Not something found around every corner but is very strong and dye wipes off with a bit of acetone. Easy to maintain. Does work well under pounding block as well. Hope you find that your idea works for you. Ray
  5. OUTSTANDING. Sme year as my 29 Fargo and if you look at the picture you will see many similarities as they were both products of those great Dodge Brothers. I claim them as kin, somewhat. I know you will be happy to cruz in the buggy whenever time permits. Great workmanship is apparent and the straps look super. Wish I could work on mine again but those days are long gone. Mine has 318 coupled to 727 automatic. Greatest ride I have ever had and now time to say goodbye to all the fun. Great memories. Hope you post more when it is road ready. Exciting to watch it happen. God Bless. Ray
  6. Keep at it Shagey. Great job and will get better as you go. Plenty of ways to burnish, using glass burnisher, tandy nylon and their wooden multi slotted tool, which is a good hand tool. They also have bone folders and more. You can go the dremel route or use drill/drill press methods and some folks use antler pieces. So many ways to do it and all in what you as an individual find works best for you. Try them all as it is a great learning experience and sure you will develop your own technique. Enjoy----- God Bless. Ray

  8. I know that several folks on the site have access to lasers but as far as "reasonable costs" for a laser, I don't know what that would mean. The units that I have seen are above $2000.00 plus, so I suppose a search on google would give you a good idea of what the market has available now. A number of small units have hit the market in the recent past but don't remember who made them. Good luck with your search. God Bless. Ray

  14. Hello Billymac, Appears as though the setters are working out for you. I use a rubber mat as shown in the video, when laying out and setting spots in a line or small pattern. When doing a straight line, I begin with first spot at one edge and allow it to penetrate the mat, which in turn, holds the piece in place while I set the remaining spots. At times, I can just do a pattern/design in center of mat using the same principal. When setting a large amount of the spots it was easier for me to just flip it and tap the tabs flat with tack hammer or other tool. Didn't have to move the anvil around when using that method. Anything that works, is the order of the day, I suppose. God Bless. Ray
