  1. Still have to get mine made by someone into a nice stamp. By hand till then.
  2. What a serious brilliant idea !
  3. For earlier stuff - you are doing great ! Glad to hear you are enjoying your hobby/skill, I know what you mean. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with orders and when I finally get back to it - I just grin as I make nice things. Keep up the great work !!
  4. I'll have a look for Wizcrafts posts & give it a try. If no go - there may be some new credit card charges in the near future.
  5. Hmmm… I have a Mach 1 feed sewing machine that despite my rookie attempts to adjust it - leaves foot prints from the bottom feed foot on the back of my leather projects - a HUGE blemish on projects & very frustrating. I would like to use the machine for more of my Holsters & other high finished products to reduce the time I spend stitching (all by hand right now) and increase my productivity (ex. I HATE hand stitching bullet loops !). Product samples : Anyone have anything to suggest to minimize them before I finally get frustrated - sell it and purchase a Techsew 5100 ? ARGH.
  6. Nice bag, very straight forward design. Love the mallet
  7. That is some pretty intricate and amazing edge braiding. Nice work
  8. Nice finish on the briefcase, I really like the 'feet' idea on the bottom - pretty smart
  9. Wow, really cool design concept ! I have been putting off making belts for 6 months now despite a TON of requests, but I think its time to give a few a try. Great work on that belt !!!
  10. Can anyone help me with my new(used) sewing machine settings/setup ? Machine is a Mach 1 (from Leighton's) - same as a Techsew GA5-1. Triple checked thread feed - thats good, triple checked bobbin, thats good, when I sew, after about 6-10 stitches, I get a birdsnest on the underside of the leather and then the thread breaks. I am not exactly sure how to adjust either of the thread tensioners up or down (I know to turn them, but tried both ways and still getting the same birdsnests). Help is appreciated as I am trying to sew a suede backing onto a rifle sling & need the machine ! lol Thanks in Advance - Coho
  11. Wow. Seriously wow. Makes me realize I am making things at a MAYBE 10% skill level - but excites me to know JUST HOW much more there is for me to have fun learning and getting better ! Thanks you !
  12. I bought some from the guy off eBay and they work very nicely : >>> Grizzly Stamp <<<
  13. Hi guys, I am new to leather working but have been making holsters, knife & axe sheaths & belts & business is booming (I am turning people away as I just don't have the time to make it all). As such, I want to buy a machine to drop my time per piece & start some larger projects (I am not looking forward to hand stitching full rifle scabbards !). I have been doing my reading here and searching the net for months for a good machine at a VERY decent price (as the recession hits everyone). I would love to spend the cash one time for a 'do everything' machine, but I don't have the spare $2500 + dollars right now , but I have found what seems like an ok deal to start sewing. Here is what I found : Leighton's Mach 1 Industrial sewing machine, $1000 local sale (save the shipping costs - BONUS), this one DOES have Reverse ! & comes with extra bobbins, table made for it, a few other extra's, and it has been set up to stitch saddlery & harnesses - so I know it will handle heavier leather for my holsters, thick sheaths, etc. What I WANT is a jump foot machine with a Needle pull through - one time buy, never need another machine. I am aware it's not the BEST machine for holsters, scabbards & sheaths as read on other posts here : http://leatherworker...?showtopic=9019 My QUESTION is whether I should buy it even though the needle and feed aren't ideal for holster work, and try to sell later or just hold off and buy the big one - ONE time maybe a year from now (ugg - I really want to get into the stitching and more projects to sell). I have to make my savings go as far as I can, so if compromise ISN'T worth it, I will wait, but if it is a great start I will consider and likely buy it. >>> Some of my stuff so far <<< You can see my hand stitching is good & getting better, but time wise... This is the actual machine here :
