  1. Your lacing is outstanding. How did you finish the edges on the bib? They look square from the photo. Otherwise, very nice. Great job. I need to make a roll, any tips?
  2. Just ordered my first hide from W&C. Bought 10/11 and having it taken down to 8/9. Finally finished my first and last Tandy hide. Bought the best they had and even with my Super Duper $150 gold memebership it was over $8/ sq. ft. The W&C was $7.33. Can't wait to play eith this.
  3. For belts 9/10 oz I'm using a Ron #3 round beveler. It makes a perfect radius on the leather front and back. For thicker you may want to grab a #4. I like em and will be getting more. Don't you have to have a business tax number to buy from Weaver?
  4. Thank you for the plans Jon
  5. Outstanding. When you can show your backgrounds up that close they must be good. And they are!_!!
  6. Dwight, On this one I used Feibing Saddle Tan Oil Dye. Had to make the belt parts twice. Found out that if you dye over cased leather the color is different. So I cut new belts, cased them overnight a had another go at it. FWIW, that oil dye is nice. And then for the finish. My Man Dwight's secret Oil and beeswax rub a dub dub. Thanks, Jon
  7. Pete, Why not call Sprinfield leather and tell them what your looking for. I have the same questions, but haven't asked them as sewing is in the future for me. Good point, tons of views and no answers. Most likely guests. Jon
  8. I learned long ago, never strore your instruments anywere you wouldn't sleep. I have owned over 40 guitars in my time and they are all treated like family.
  9. Sylvia, All of my fret boards are oiled everytime I change strings, nothing to worry about here. As for meteal hitting the body. Not if your careful. Thanks for the reply.

  13. Put this together today. Used some 9/10 oz dyed with saddle tan oil and a 2/3oz lining. I lined everyhting this time, belt, straps, cord holder. Addded some tejas style conchos. As always leanred some mopre on what to do and what not to do. Anyway what do you think. I did not dye the edges on this one, wanted to leave it burnished only.

  15. Thanks girls. The cord keeper also keeps the guitar on the strap. I've had two axes hit the stage when the cord pulled on the strap. Used strap locks and don't really like them. So I am going to try this. Thanks Jon

  23. Well, I think I finally have something to show off. the last 2 months have been a real blast. Thanks for all the help here. I have a 3" Veg Tan 8/9 oz., tatooed with basket weave and a cam border, backed with 2/3 oz. Got the hardware from Tandy today. Finish is Oil, Med Brwon Antique, Neatlac. Straps are Dark brown dye and Neatlac. Used Bob Park for the tutorial on edges. Added a touch, Lower loop to hold the cord out of the way. The other guest in the photo are my 1955 Gibson Les Paul Jr. and my own, hand wired ,hand built Fullertone tube amp. This combo rocks. Critiques as always. Thanks, Jon
