  1. This started off just as one of my wooden zippo covers, but I liked the picture a lot so I went ahead an made a delrin embossing plate out of it. This piece is 3/4 oz leather and it stands out about 1/10" off the surface. size is 2 1/2"x 2 1/2". The lighter cover is Bubinga wood. cheers!
  2. I just put it for sale on my etsy site yesterday and it sold overnight. I will make more. You can find me on etsy as laseredstamps
  3. my 3 lb maul does a fine job for punching holes. Pretty much just let gravity do it's job without any extra effort (if the punches as sharp). cheers!
  4. Here is my latest wallet back plate in time for Chirstmas. I find these plates also work on flasks covers. size is 3.5 x 2.75" cut into delrin plastic. pressed with the 1 ton arbor press. I hope you like it. Cheers!
  5. Also if you have the swivel knife in a 'Vulcan death grip' it is only going to add to your fatique. Make sure the knife sharpened and honed so that it cuts smoothly and easily. If you're have to grip it a lot so you can drag it acoss the leather it needs sharpening. strop it A LOT. cut, cut, cut, strop, strop. rinse and repeat. Cheers!
  6. the yin/yang looks good. And it is open to so many possibilities. For instance an Autobot/Decepticon YY would be cool. An Angle/Demon skull YY. you get the idea - any two opposing figures. Cheers!
  7. thank you chris. More importantly, it is a whole lot of fun doing these. -Nick
  8. I was down a couple weeks while my CNC controller was being fixed. Luckily it was still under warrantey and they fixed up up and got back to me and i'm up and running in time for the busy season. This is a new wallet back plate (3.5 x 2.75") for my heavy metal friends. rock on
  9. Just playing with something out of the ordinary. Delrin wallet back plate 3.5" x 2.75". Cheers!
  10. Hello Michelle, These are directly cut with a CNC router into 1/2" thick delrin. These could probably be cast from these models, but it is just as easy to cut them individually now. Cheers!
  11. thank you. I test these with a 1 ton arbor press (which has a 1" square ram). I start in one corner, press them move over 1 inch. Rinse and repeat until it is done. If I want to do it all at once, I've got a 12 ton shop press that can do the job. I have found that if I put a piece of rubber or thick leather underneath the piece I'm going to press, it helps to push the leather up into the stamp for a good deep embossing, especially on thin (4/5 oz) leather like used on a wallet back. Cheers!
  12. This is a new wallet back plate with a celtic weave border. Regular size 2.75" x 3.25". Cheers!
  13. I got another done with two crossed pistols. I just need to dye and finish the strap before I can put some pictures up. I was also waiting on the CNC machine so I can use it to accurately center bore the center. Now all I need is a little time so I can make some new content. -Nick
  14. I only wish my best friend of over 30 years was still around to show it too.
  15. New 3d embossing plate for a roper or checkbook. 5.5" x 1.5". Cheers!
  16. yikes! I've had a few close calls but nothing like that. So sorry.
  17. Interesting news that the evil empire has closed it's chattanooga,TN leather factory store which was thier historical first store. they used to do very well. I wonder what happened?
  18. Hello biglew, Cleaning is easy. just wash it. Removing the sooth produced usually only takes running it under water and maybe use a toothbrush if it is stubborn but you can always use saddle soap or a light dishwashing detergent. The edges will remain black / dark. simply airing out the leather will work best for the smell, but fabreeze does wonders. 2nd: it's not always possible but if you are able to apply a finish to the leather piece ahead of time then you can just use Pledge or a damp sponge to remove the sooth. Cheers!
  19. thank you. It's one of those things you look at in hindsite and say "I should have gotten this years ago". But in reality I think the timing is right. I did a lot of good work with the laser (13 years to be exact), but this tool is opening me up to some new ideas. and combining the two is just too much fun for one person. cheers!
  20. yes, this was my prototype but I will beging offering them as soon as i can take pictures and get them posted on ebay. If you're interested in them sooner drop me a PM. -nick
