  1. Great design! I am a new fan of the hair on hide also. As far as tripple checking and then still making the mistake you were afraid of has been a part of all our lives I am sure. I know I just recently did it. For my anniversary I made my husband a vintage looking cell phone case and put SINCE (picture of love doves here) 2009 Well.....let's just say I used the 6 LOL. Of course it was like one of the last steps and I was about to cry. I wet the leather again and pounded the 9 over the 6 until it looked good.
  2. Holy cow!! That is making me lick my lips lol! GREAT JOB!
  3. Uggg...I bought suede lacing from A.C. Moore because I was desperate and now I am paying for it. I think it has been in their store for a VERY long time. It's dry rotted. Unless all suede lace just snaps if you slightly tug on it.

SO the low carb strawberry cheese cake I just made definitely made up for it.

Cheese cake fixes everything! And yes, all suede lacing snaps like a twig as soon as you touch it..I have 3 rolls of it hanging around..they're all the same :)

  4. Very cool! Hey I didn't know about the adult sub forum! LOL I want in!
  5. Very nice! I am actualy making this exact folder at the moment. I have already goofed up though I did my tooling and very carefully brushed on my stain on the outside of the tooling area. I wanted the tooled area to only be resisted/no stain. I wasn't as careful with the resist where I already stained it because in my mind that section was done. Well....after staining the entire outside I realized I needed to do more coats than I did with the brush.
  6. Very nice projects! For the saddle stitch, I usually back stitch 2-3 times and then do a half stitch so they both end up on back side of project.
  7. I am pretty new at this only one year or so in to leather working, but I can tell you that Tandy says to use sheers to cut the hair hide and I found that to be an enormous mess. I use the rotary cutter now because it seems to trim the hair as I cut with it. The sheers seemed to cut the skin and SOME hair therefore leaving a bit of an uneven looking edge even though it's perfectly straight. Tandy's glue called leather weld is the best I have found to glue leather onto hair on hide, but it still needs to be sewn. Just a few thoughts from what I have seen, but again I am no professional, but worth a try
  8. I am sure I could draw the pattern, but I knew there was some sort of pattern pack for this that included a few designs for tooling, different ways to sew it etc... thanks for your help though. I found it and printed all 76 pages worth LOL
  9. It sure is! Thank you very much! I know I looked there earlier and didn't find it. It is in the LLL section and I guess I only looked on TL site.
  10. I see this handbag everywhere online and really like the style. I would love to make one of these for my sister. If anyone has this pattern and is willing to give it to me or tell me where I can get it please let me know, I have the "itch". Thanks all!
  11. That is SOOOOO nice!! What weight of leather is that? I am jealous
  12. I can only say WOW! That looks great! Thanks for taking the time to do/add the video
  13. Really digging that color! Looks nice and clean and I think the white tread brings it all out.
  14. That is amazing! I know she LOVED it! That is a brilliant idea the way you have it 3D, how in the world did you figure that one out?
  15. Thanks! http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=20414 Hopefully that link works If not, it is under the patterns/templates section of this forum and it's pinned so it's at the top. It is only showing how to do the inside step by step, but if you click the link she has inside the tutorial you can print her pattern and the pattern has the outside cover and another pattern incase you decide to line the cover as well.
  16. Thank you very much! As you can see though, the dye on the wallet came out a bit lighter than the bag. Thank goodness one will be inside the other I don't know if I completely forgot to do a second coat of dye on it or if this was the result of it being thinner leather on the wallet. You live and learn right?
  17. Really cool! Looks like a ton of work!
  18. Did the purse over the last few days and I just HAD to make a matching wallet. I was lucky enough to find KK's tutorial on this forum which gave me an awesome starting point. I only did one slot for cash and omitted the zipper. Where she had the zipper I just made it a pocket with another card slot inside of that pocket. Her wallet was awesome!!! However, it was a little more than I wanted to tackle at my newb wallet skills. I will be looking "in" next time I go dancing!!
  19. I like it! Can't wait to see how you decide to dye it. Are you going steampunkish with it?
  20. Pretty cool! How does it stay closed? I am guessing it just ties in the back?
  21. Working on my chink bag :) It's about time I make something for me! Then I get to work on the mini roper saddle kit I got for Christmas! Happy New Year all!

  22. It looks like it was well worth the wait Great job! Is that the light gel antique from Tandy? I love that look and bought the medium gel antique. It was so dark it looked almost black and didn't have that type of contrast at all!
  23. Anyone know if you need a special tool to set conchos that have a rivet style back? I didn't realize this when I ordered them. They feel kinda cheap and bendable :(

    1. Spinner

      Spinner

the rivet backs are generally lighter than rivet back spots, just put a piece of 1/2 oz leather to keep it from scratching/denting and use a normal setter with a lighter hand & a few more taps.
