  1. Jimi, I´ll let you know if it works better with or without the Pfennig I´m almost done. I think I can finish it later today - maybe tomorrow if it needs some tuning... I just did some dry stitches and increased the stitch length contentiously - HOLY SMOKES - seems it can do 9mm - 9.5mm long stitches. Thats not even mention in the manual and by far the longest stitch length I ever have seen from a patcher machine - longest yet was 7mm on a CLAES. I´m pretty impressed! Will post pictures and maybe a Video when I´m done
  2. Not my business but maybe someone is interested. This Ebay seller (NOT ME) has some cheap (I think they are) lots of clicker dies for the shoe business. https://www.ebay.de/sch/m.html?_odkw=&_localstpos=27313&_fcid=77&_ssn=bumbumobelix&item=253215197138&_clu=2&gbr=1&_osacat=0&_stpos=27313&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_from=R40&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xstanz.TRS0&_nkw=stanz&_sacat=0 If someone is really interested I could forward them if the seller will not ship to the US or elsewhere. I just think its a bargain, isn´t it?
  3. I´d check the needle hight and the the needle hook timing.
  4. WOW - now thats a beauty! very nice original decals
  5. These motors are not bad! Especially for lighter applications - but when you sew slow all the time they tend to become "quite warm" and you can smell it. however they are really nor bad!
  6. Maybe a Sutton Rapid E 317 Manual helps a bit: Rapid E 317.pdf
  7. The position of the cam pulley and the drive cam (inside the casting) on the top shaft for sure matters. But on the shaft you should see marks from the set screws so should be possible to put hem back in the right place. Gear box needs to be assembled correctly but if you have the manual it should show a picture of how the gear box should be assembled. I´ll attach it just for the case 29k71-71-73 Service Manual and Parts List.pdf
  8. are you using round point or leather needles for denim?
  9. seems your machine already is set up as a binder machine...
  10. soooo - seems its not too special. - I thought it was... I`m sometimes thinking the same when it comes to vintage Singer sewing machines
  11. Depends on how your machine is setup - (throat plate, feed dog, presser feet) Please post some pictures of your machine. I´m sure most sewing machine dealers can support you with binder attachments. F.I. check with Toledo Sewing Machines, OH or Keystome Sewing Machines, PA - both have a good reputation here and have a banner on top of this site
  12. simple edge rollers are quite universal fitting they mount to the flat bed with 2 or 1 thumb screws. You should have 2 threaded holes that line up with the presser feet
  13. Alex - haven´t you bought the speed reducer a while a go? Not your cup of tea this thingy?
  14. consew 206 - RB I think
  15. Interesting skiver - never seen one like this before https://www.ebay.de/itm/Fortuna-Lederscharfmaschine-Scharfmaschine-Spaltmaschine-Sattlermaschine/322878734591?hash=item4b2d1280ff:g:WgEAAOSwCtJaCKHD
  16. Billy thats a secret "hoover shuttle" based on the German WWII secret Repulsine drive but a bit advanced and down scaled You hit the nail!!!
  17. Thanks a lot folks Well, the last thing I really need is another patcher. My Singer 29K71 is more than sufficient for what I do with it. The hook mechanism on this Durkopp 18 is unique / totally different, it has not an oscillating shuttle like all the other patchers have. This one has a shuttle in a fixed position and a hook that moves back and forth and then guiding the thread around the shuttle (see Video in 1st post). This special hook allows to sew in extremely tight spaces. I know no other machine that has such a pointed tip. Thats what caught my interest. The brownish stuff it dried oil and and dirt in combination with surface rust - hard to tell what is what. I soaked the parts in paint thinner so the gunk is coming of better and then I polished the parts with an electric drill and round steel wire brush. Thats really efficient. Parts are clean but not really shiny like chrome. Not sure what the original finish was but seems it varied anyway. The 2nd machine has some parts painted black (like the tension unit on top of the machine or the oil cup) and the same parts or in the other machine were nickle plated or chromed or left blank. Funny thing - I found a 1 Pfennig coin from 1950 inside the machine. It washed out when I cleaned the inside with paint thinner. And thats was not the 1st time I had this before. Maybe some sort of "cobblers rite". For those who don´t know the 1 Pfennig coin was considered as a "lucky coin" - so maybe this machine had luck that it found me or I had luck that I found the machine . I will put it in the drawer when I´m done...
  18. I´m a big a big fan of Silver / black - but I honestly would NOT repaint this particular machine. If the decal were worn off and paint badly chipped and if it had a lot of rust and gunk on it then I´d repaint it but for me the beauty is in its very nice and original condition (or do I get a wrong impression from the picture). I´t probably repaint he the worn area around the throat plate but nothing more.
  19. I finally found the time to start cleaning and reassembling the head. Machine has lot of screws and small bits. Quite time consuming cleaning them Some pictures...
  20. uuuuuh - good luck with this beast! I always wondered - is the presser foot driven or is a a jump foot system?
  21. All Motors start at 0 RPM (you have to read between the lines) but as far as I know is the next step is min. 100 or 200 RPM. its not that they have a ramp like 0 - 10 - 20 - 30 - 40.....100... 200. But maybe someone proves me wrong but that at least my experience. Guess you would buy from Sewtex? They do not have the best reputation from what I have read and my first servo also came from them and did not work at all and the 2nd made an annoying beeeeeep sound and they said it will disappear after 30 hrs or so - it did not. If you want to buy it ask if the motor REALLY has this speed ramp. But careful with what they answer, their German is very much Russian influenced so things can get lost in translation - if you know what I mean
  22. Jimi, I´ll send you a PM - parts are too off topic.
  23. JImi, I think I may have some 45K shuttle race parts but have to check. If you need a new needle bar I think the needle bars of the Chinese GA5-1 clones are the same.
  24. Hi Miquel - now I recall you - so you did not buy the CLAES harness machine? These machines are nice but you are right spare parts are no longer available and needles are a problem. A Singer 45K for sure is the better choice. who could that be Wiz - its a 45K with reverse.
  25. My Singer 111G156 can sew 207 but I barely do that. I don´t like running a machine on its limit all the time. These Singer 111 type machines from Consew, Juki, Seiko, Pfaff, Adler, Dürkopp... or other brands sometimes come in different setups and are usually not setup for thread this heavy. You probably have to adjust the hook saddle and need a throat plate and feed dog that can handle 207 thread and corresponding needles. Whereas the heavier class machines are usually setup for 207 or thinker when they come "out of the box". For heavier thread I use my Singer 45D91 or 133K3 or one day my Singer 132K6. But I´m a "vintage machine dude" if you prefer new machines it depends on your budget and what machines brands available on your local market. LW member Jimi is from Spain too. He also is using a lot of vintage Singer sewing machines maybe you can check with him - or he checks in here anyway He probably knows the Spanish market better and has ideas where to get a proper machine - or he even has one for sale - you never know.
