Pfaff stitch length adjustment post bed
Constabulary replied to Oakley's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Just some thoughts.... I have not seen this particular machine in real life. Be careful with post bed machines - especially double needle machines. Double needle machines have a fixed needle distance and I´m not sure if gauge sets are available for these machines - maybe on special order and I´m sure they are pricey and you have adjust the position the posts depending on the needle distance (if it is possible at al)l - and they often (not all) have a quite short stitch length because they were used for sewing shoe upper and similar things and these items often just need s hort stitch because of sewing tight curves and so forth. The stitch length often is limited by the throat plate meaning even if you can adjust a longer stitch you need a throat plate with longer slot to achieve a long stitch length. Question is is a throat plate with a longer slot still available. If it has a bottom wheel drive you sometimes can only change the stitch length by changing the gears. Some machines have gear groups so you can choose different stitch length but often they have quite short stitch length only like 1.6mm - 2.5mm or so. However - not sure if post bed machines gave these gear groups but I know flat bed machines do. Thats at least my experience... I would guess your machine is factory set to a certain stitch length. You can probably mount a different stitch length scale with an open face for the stitch length lever but question is if the adjustment unit is present and if it can accommodate the lever at all. If the machine has a plate with sub class number you probably can find out more. So when buying a used post bed machine you have to consider more criteria compared with a double needle flat bed machine - It can be tricky! -
and a long arm version 132K12 too: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142566983683 Some say size matters

Not the nicest table but I´m sure its worth checking out - seems to late 1950´s - 1960´s made. Could end as bargain... https://www.ebay.de/itm/Singer-132k6-Walking-Foot-Heavy-Duty-Industrial-Sewing-Machine/222706145086 Maybe a good deal for a LW member in the UK. (not my machine)

Adler 30-10 shuttle play and timing
Constabulary replied to CamNew's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
afaik the BCL is the same on all Adler 30 (#30008) - the 29K BCL does not fit w/o modification but I once "implanted" one into a 30-1. 30-1 / 30-7 gears and racks are also the same - but shuttle carrier is different on the 7 / 70 sub class. -

Constabulary replied to CamNew's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
You can modify the Singer 29K bell crank lever to fit the 30-1. Here is a picture of a 30 gear box. Good gears and gear racks have a flat top ( see picture). If the top of the teeth are sharp they are worn off. OEM Adler 30 parts are extremely expensive. -
I´m not a website pro (really not) and don`t know how the back end looks like but are sure you sure your domain is linked to the correct folder where the website is stored? Hope you know what I mean? Maybe you have to change some folder permissions on this certain folder or a certain folder one level up. But don´t ask me for details I only recall I once had a similar problem with a forum I once ran.

Singer 132K SV 11 -> a 132K6 variant?
Constabulary replied to Constabulary's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Ha ha - no THIS machine is will not be repainted Decals and paint are too nice! Note to Jimi: No silver this time I have stored away a black cast iron Singer stand on my attic for approx 2 years which was waiting for a machine like this. But setting up the machine completely will take some time and being hosted I have to re-think my space -
Singer 132K SV 11 -> a 132K6 variant?
Constabulary replied to Constabulary's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Dunu what to do with the SV - maybe stripping for spare parts or sell the head as drop feed machine or set it up with table / motor and then selling it... It does not eat bread so it can stay on the shelf for a while. So this is the cleaned 132K6 -
some pictures would be nice...

singer 111w155 Singer 111w155 feed lifting cam slop
Constabulary replied to kiddcaprix's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Uwe is right, barely a sheet of paper clearance between cam and fork. I have a very good used spare cam and spare fork - diameter of the cam is 17.40mm and the fork is 17.60mm so thats 0.2mm (approx) slop - rather less depends on where I measure on the inside of the fork. So you can compare measures and have an rough idea of how worn your parts are. When I put a sheet of paper between it the cam still holds it. -
Oh - I also can figure out how to make things work Thats not to difficult. I live in a quite rural area too. Question is why should I do cutting and welding instead of adjusting something? A Ferdco 2000 is a Juki 441 clone, right? There are for sure some (no - A LOT OF) users or dealers who could help with the adjustment procedure. So - you honestly think cutting and welding a presser foot was the better idea instead of adjusting the machine? I don´t think so. This has nothing to do with "negativity". The idea simply was "not so clever" - or was it? I accept your critic on my post and I can deal with it. It´s not my style to sugarcoat something and I honestly hope when I do "not so clever things" people let me know their honest opinion instead of claiming: Ooooh - thats sooo nice, wooooow - you did so well, meeeen - not a better solution out there.

Singer 132K SV 11 -> a 132K6 variant?
Constabulary replied to Constabulary's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Finally I dropped the idea turning it into a 132K6. Why? Because I found a 132K6 (head only). Was a real attic find fat a closed down leather factory in North Hesse (Germany). Machine was totally gummed and covered with dust, flyspeck and light surface rust but after a thorough cleaning it turned out really nice. And a bonus I got a 111G156 head for free. They just wanted to get rid of these machines. Will post some pictures later. -
Really? Cutting and Bubba welding instead of adjusting the machine? And when you need a truck but have a sedan you cut off the roof?

My 2 cents: Better buy a used machine with reverse instead. Even if it was possible the parts and labor would cost more than a used machine with reverse.

it is a wild guess but older Singer 29K and Adler 30 share some similarities so it could well be that the 29K gears on the hand wheel could fit. But I have never compared them. I can give you some measures from a 29K gear - let me know https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/store/81872-SINGER-29K-GEAR Check with LW member SHOEPATCHER - he probably can shed some light on this. However - I yet have not seen sheared off gears on hand wheels at patcher machines and I have seen a few already. In my opinion this could mean that the entire machine is very well worn. And keep in mind there is a 2nd gear on the top shaft that could be worn too. I mean these are really sturdy gears and it takes some time to wear them off . So before you invest money in the hand wheel gear better check the condition of the gear racks, pinions and shuttle driver in the gear box. If they are worn too you better drop the ideal of restoring it because Adler parts are extremely expensive and Singer 29K parts do not fit in the gear box. Maybe a thin shim or washer between gear and bushing can do the trick already.... also just a guess.

Consew and Mitsubishi Twin-Needle machines
Constabulary replied to Ogoki's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
BTW - The Mitsubishi seems to have a Pfaff tension unit. Check springs and tension discs are a bit different compared with Singer 211 / 212 tension units. Singer springs may work but the Pfaff springs are longer and have a raised tip (at least the ones I have seen) -
Seiko SK7Sk8 SK26 (Singer 132K6) operating manual with adjustments
Constabulary replied to qvt's topic in How Do I Do That?
He sent me the manual - file is approx 20MB so its too big to attach. It´s worth reading it. Nice and clear SEIKO manual with some more information than you get from the "regular" Singer 132K manual. Thanks to QVT EDIT: I have reworked it a bit and tried compressed the original PDF but its a bit blurry now . His original file is better! Manual Singer 132K6 Seiko SK-7 SK-8 SK-26 - II (1).pdf -

Yes, I´m sure it is for leather. The machine is labeled DVSG which is (or was) the German equivalent to the British BUSMC or US USM shoe machinery companies. -

New (to me) machine for skate tongues
Constabulary replied to Hockeymender's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
CLAES are indeed the best patchers you can get. Singers and Adlers are "a joke" compared with them. I really mean that - though I´m a bit Singer crazy! Singers and Adlers for sure do their job - no doubt but the CLAES are just a few levels up! CLAES is still making patchers (Co. now called alled CL Maschinenbau). I once was in their area (Mühlhausem, Thuringia) and I took the chance to visit them. I stumbled in to their officer and just asked if I could buy some spare parts. Sure - the office lady said with a friendly smile on her face. Men - unbelievable nice service there. They took me down to their production site - showed me around a bit and even demonstrated me a Zig Zag patcher machine - an unbelievable thing it is!
