Video: Practicing My French Seams On Vinyl
paprhangr replied to Uwe's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
What I have been doing is bury the needle raise the pressure foot, take a look , start the Next stitch, using the reverse do a 1/2 stitch if needed moving the needle instead of the leather, which works But the technique above gives a clearer view of needle position -

Thanks, I learned something new from your vid. Trying to explain. I have had some difficulty when sewing around the English point belt end. Your techniques showed me I can raise the feet BEDORE BURYING THE NEEDLE, giving me a view WHERE I AM, with the the need close checking the needle position, adjusting /moving the leather as needed, then set the needle hope this makes sense. -
Soooooo COOL

when I first got my Consew 206 with a clutch, it took me some time to get control but now I can go as slow or fast as I want. my start point is pushing the pedal just enough to hear the motor anf feel it wants to go, then push a little more GO. (pop the clutch in the VW beetle)

The Wait Is Finally Over For The 206Rb But
paprhangr replied to OLDNSLOW's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
my experience on my Consew 206 rb5, sometimes the foot leaves a foot print regardless of how I adjust pressure. can rub a lot of that out. I have got the habit to use the hand wheel give the machine a kick start after stopping. sews great what RB model do you have? -
I got a die holder for my tandy press from black river lazer Allows me to chuck in the tandy mini punch kit that has the 6 punch sizes. Works great punching sizing holes, screw and rivet holes. The Gold Star hole punch is not right for leather work unless they got one recently.
-
Gold star press ( and pricey tandy) requires a set of dies for each size rivet or snap. I have 8mm for the small rivets, 9 mm die set for med to large rivet. Dies for each line 20 and line 24 snaps

I sew leather and waxed canvas with my consew 206 RB5 no problem.
