  1. i get some stuff from Le prevo and they are a little on the pricey side but my main bugbear is the postage costs, often you get charged £7 and when you get your parcel it cost less than 1/3 of the cost, i guess it evens out for them with big packages but... That aside I have no complaints about quality, or helpfulness of their staff, and you can get some great special offers if you keep your eyes peeled for changes. So I keep going back knowing that its goiing to be good is worth a little extra cost

    New Masks

ClayB and i for one would love to see the results. I am excited at just the prospect! Helen, fantastic masks, i love all your stuff, they are incredable; how long have you been masking? (a pointed question meaning have I got half a chance to be half as good!) the fox really captures the cheeky aspect of a fox, I love it when art (and this is ART!!)captures something intagible, a glimpse of spirit, in a peice. I get very frustrated with my stuff which looks ok but doesn't seem to come alive like yours, even your most simplistic designed mask seems to smile and suggest fun. We are not worthy!
  3. some great films there! you must be blown away when you see your work and see others react to it! Always wanted to work in film, did some animal handling on a film shot in london which I guess never made it out of the editting room, never even found out the title. But a couple of lovely women and some great food in the bus, and working with bats is challnging, they do not behave, ever! It was an experience!
  4. happy belated birthday y'all

  9. hey there and welcome, to another uk'r I never realised there were so many of us, looks like you have a wealth of knowledge, I look forward to picking your brains. lol
  10. Upset, not I. I think it is a noble gesture, and MS should be applauded, and as johanna says its a time to work together. Especially now with the global credit issues. I can also understand Johanna's point of view that new projects are always under development and it is essential for forums to acknowledge this. I think it is a great idea. Whether by LW or MS and I feel MS has been ver very keen in designing a catologue so quickly, but also very responsible responding to what has been discussed here, I hope that we don't put MS off. as someone just starting to srell his little creations breaking into the marketplace with limited funds (and on my part limited talent) is very daunting. I think Johanna and the staff here have shown considerable knowledge and forsight to create this forum in the first place and I for one trust their judgement on this matter. And I am willing to give it a try, if it proves as some suggest that the forum isn't the place for sales well then lets cross that bridge when we come to it. I think this is a case of great minds thinking alike. And for two (or more) respected LW members to come up with the same notion from different places suggests that it is something that is needed by us little people. Better that two people come up with an idea than none. My 2cents worth. i would like to thank Johanna and MS for supporting us and coming up with new projects which could help newbies get started. Group hug

    String cutter

That looks great, I have one question..... well initially do you just gently pull the string, what stops it cutting straight off? I have tried several lace makers and failed to create more than a couple of feet before I slice off the end d'oh! Is it just experience or is there a secret..... You can tell me I won't tell anyone else lol
  13. I love it, really cool, I learned to make a sling some time ago and its a handy way to carry it, without carrying a weapon.... Thats not to say I can use it, I am useless ha ha ha. I think $30 is ok, but if you did get cheaper BB's that would make them more saleable or you more profit either way I'd be sorely tempted.
  14. heres some more - don't answer the phone when dying or antiquing your project, one will dye your ears the other will grease your phone. - Glue will go everywhere except where you want it! - put the lid on the dye/stain pot before you start rubbing the finish!! - just one more decorative cut is probably one too many - use a sharp blade, always!! No i mean always!! - Don't write price tickets, on top of your project, D'oh. - Remember your furniture/hardware before you sew up that final really tricky bit that takes ages and has to be cut and sown again........ grrrrr - Never try on a project, when the dye is still wet, especially helmets/hats. - If there is a fly in workshop it wil end up stuck to your project, or you! - Pets leave paw prints, especially after they walk through your dye tray! - Don't put your fresh cuppa something next to your white spirit/cleaner container. - If someone wants to buy something in a hurry its always the item the price fell off.
  15. I find braiding fascinating but alas don't have the fingers for it..... There are some very skilled people here and some not as skilled beginners like myself all of have questions and answers so fire away with both.

  20. [quote But if a real kick is required I can let you in on the prairie wolf drink, 50%tequila and 50% tabasco Tom I think that may be a splat and a lot of time on the WC. " hot, hot, hot, hot" for me Tabosco and tequila ooooh NO thats evil. Had the misfortune to drink a lot of tequila slammers in a bar on holiday 15 or so, it seemed like a good idea at the time to wash the taste of bad sangria out of my mouth I was fine until I walked outside then I swear I took a huge gulp of air and I got hit in the face with a brick, i remember waking the next day feeling like like a badger had left a little fecal surprise in my mouth. I got up, for just enough time to fall down again and hit the floor at the same time as my vomit, Never again! I still like tequila but i have an aversion to hotel floors lol. heading home for a desperado anyone had one of these? Tequila beer, mmmmmm the only beer I drink (except stout, like guniness)
  21. Alas no my brewing skills are.... how can i put it delicately..... aweful, my partner makes fabulous wine though (elderflower) so i may make a suggestion. Pear Cider sometimes called perry has really taken off in uk of late, I tried Pear and strawberry cider the other day, yet another temptation yum yum.
