You have the eye of an artist and the hand of a craftsman... beautiful work...!!!

Great info on cone creation...!!!

I like the narrower leather strap; more elegant and seems to complement the era to which you are paying homage. It contrasts the fabric which is bookended by the matching leather face and back. The fabric strap seems, to my eye, too wide/out of proportion. My humble two cents...

Is there anywhere in Virginia to buy leather in person?

Where were you buying in NC. I'm in NC and my supplier went out of business and I'm looking for another here. -

Ruger Blackhawk Bisley Holster

You do very clean work. Another fine example of a holster. I like the Ruger logo amidst the basket weave. The holster complements well a fine revolver. -
Very medieval... cool idea well done.

These remind me of the Adams family... The eyes on the last one kinda creep me out. Cool project...!

Narrow feed dog FLAT Plate for Cowboy CB4500 and Cobra 4
msdeluca replied to Patrick1's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Thanks for getting back to me, but I already ordered one from RockAussie. Do you make a smooth plate and dog set for the Consew 206RB-5...? Mike -
Thanks. Thanks. I think I v-grooved it like you would do a 90º bend. I probably should have done a double groove..

I agree. I noticed that only after I wet molded it. A lesson learned for next time. At the time, I couldn't figure out how to curve the fold and thought it would be okay, but it does show and looks a little weird. I didn't think of stitching around the point of the knife and back up the spine. Thanks for the input...!!! Mike

uh oh... Did I need another walking foot sewing machine?
msdeluca replied to msdeluca's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
No worries. I appreciate your willingness to help. I'm gong to try the serrated feed dog/plate when my table arrives and I can get it the machine set up, but I also ordered a new serrated plate and dog to experiment on. It will be interesting to see the difference and whether the J-B weld works. Mike -
Thanks...!

I've had this knife for years. It is discontinued now. It has always been near impossible to resheath the knife and fasten the snap. This is my attempt at solving the problem. A diversion in 2021. Veg tan leather. Feibings Professional Oil Dye Black. Stitched on a Cowboy CB3200. Good retention and it solves the problem. My write up is here Thanks for looking, Mike

LOL... I'm looking for a smooth throat (needle) plate and feed dog set... not presser feet. I agree that there are a lot of smooth presser feet out there. Thanks for responding though. Mike -

Checked both sites and didn't see and smooth plates or smooth feed dogs. Do you have a link? I'm not looking for narrow, I'm looking for smooth. -

I've not found any of the smooth plate/dog sets. Do you have a link? I was reading some comments on this forum lamenting the fact that they are not available and that modifying the surfaces change the mating positions, thereby altering the regulation of the needle, for example, reversing into the same holes. My CB3200 does have smooth dogs and plate. I just assumed that the smooth plate and dogs would be readily available for the 206RB-5. Again, if you've got links, I'd appreciate them. This machine is new to me and I haven't received my table order to be able to use it. Thanks for the input. Mike -

I think I read Wizcraft saying that no one makes a smooth set. I also did a search and found nothing. Thanks... yeah, the wide track and longer wheelbase in the '82-'86 is the best. I've got a blog on it here: 1986 CJ7 Restoration Project Mike ps... I made a Sunbrella top for it on my Cowboy3200. One of the reasons I've been looking for a machine made for lighter thread. -
Yes, of course, is the answer. Ya know, I was just minding my own business and, out of nowhere, a juicy little morsel of a walking foot made itself known. Just a short seven hour round trip later, it sits in my basement in need of a table... ordered a new one... so I'm just looking at it for now. Consew 206RB-5 ... and a 550-1 Consew servo-motor ... I was told that it is five years old and only driven to church every Sunday by a nice older lady. The foot it came with is smooth, but the feed dog and plate are serrated. I was thinking of filling the grooves with J-B weld to make them smooth and not change their their dimensions for feeding purposes. I could also make a new plate, but the feed dog is more of a challenge. I could braze some metal onto the dog and file it flush with the teeth, but not sure which metal would be best. Any suggestions...?

@RockyAussie Thanks for the hookup...! I just sent my money to Jess. Can't wait to get the narrow needle plate/feed dog and open toe foot for my CB3200. It is so nice when people go out of their way to help the community of like minded folks. Thanks again, Mike

I got your email, Brian. I'll be waiting for Jess' invoice. I have to tell you; I was developing a real love/hate relationship with my 3200. I love the machine, but it frustrated me due to the material continually getting sucked into the abyss and screwing up my edge stitching. I know, don't blame the tool.... I'm not... I'm elated over the improvement to a nearly great product. Thanks, Mike
