I just found this, which is different to what I do. Bert

I have my bobbin, so when you pull the thread, the bobbin turns clockwise. Bert.

Thanks Jeff, I'll make sure my wife does not see your DIY's for the moment as she is looking for a flip card wallet and I want to make mine first and I don't need any "Honey Do's" at the moment. :-)) Bert.

When replacing a empty bobbin or changing thread colours, I normally give it a few drops of oil. Bert.

I do not have a Cobra Class 4, but I have an Adler 105 and it uses a similar bobbin system and to me it sounds normal. May be, putting a few drops of oil in the movement might quiet it a little, but it sounds normal to me. Bert.

If this machine uses external clutch that has a continuous run motor, then it has a piece of leather about 3/16 to 1/4 wide and 9 inches long set in a grove in the face of the driven piece of the clutch. Two of my old Singers have this type of clutch and other then having a motor running all the time while using it, I have no problems with them. Bert.

It is not very hard to adjust the needle bar and you have a good choice of needles available to choose from. If I can do it, any one should be able to, I'm next to useless on a good day. Bert.
-
I was having trouble getting needles for my 31K47 at a reasonable price, so I adjusted the needle bar slightly and now use 135x16 and 135x17 needles. Bert.

CD, I have a Adler 105 and it does not have an eyelet in the take up lever, but maybe the previous owner put it there trying to stop the "Trashing" problem? Sadly I have never seen an Adler 205-370 in the flesh, so I cannot speak with any knowledge that would be helpful. Bert.
-
CD, maybe it is a new eyelet and it just needs to be flared to finish installing it? Bert.

My serial number is on the ID Plate on the back of the machine. Bert.

Speed Reducer mounted directly onto Servo Motor

I still run leather belts on several of my machine and have no problems with them. I am unable to buy "M" V belts locally and I can make them in minutes if I make any changes to my set up, like change heads on one of my tables. Bert. -
Nice looking Machine, there are people here that know more about this machine then I do, but I think the Adler 5 is the early version of the 105 series and the 205 series and the manauls for the 105 and 205 are available to download from Adler. Parts manual, http://www.duerkopp-adler.com/commons/download/download-text-attachments/Vintage_Parts_Books_Adler/105.pdf Operators manual, http://www.duerkopp-adler.com/commons/download/download-text-attachments/Vintage_Manuals_Adler/Manual_Adler_104_105.pdf More information from their downloads here, http://sew24.blogspot.com/p/downloads.html Enjoy you new machine. I also use Sewing Machine Oil on my Adler 105-6 bottom tension felts, but just had a thought it might be okay to use on felt. Bert. -

May I ask if "Thread Oil" would work better on the felt them normal "Sewing Machine Oil"? Thanks, Bert. -
What type of machine do you have? This chat is about a Singer 45K89 and it appears your bobbin is smaller. Here is a good place to look up your bobbin, https://www.thethreadexchange.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=sewing-machine-bobbin-style-info Bert.

The numbers for the bobbin is Adler 005 00 242 0, Singer 95093 and Towa #38 also known as type 39. It is just under 31mm long and 19.3 mm wide with a 5.4 mm hole. Bert.

The Adler 105-6 feet will fit, if you can find them. I think the price would be a big problem for most sewers. I have been using GA5 feet and needle plates from Aliexpress. Bert.

I leave a piece of scrap material under the foot of my machines, with the needle touching the fabric when I have finished using them. That way when I start stitching my threads are held and the needle is wiped and I cut it off my work and put it back when finished sewing. Bert.

I was on eBay looking for needle for a couple of my machines from a seller I have purchased needles in the past and I came across a picture of a page called "Industrial Needle Comparison Table", amongst the pictures of his needles to help with the various numbers for the same type. As I only have older machines and in Australia, I found he will help do the best postage he can. You can find him at https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/jacksnbs/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= Bert. I hope I am allowed to post that link?

The Adler manual I have is in German English and French, I think off hand, it is an operators manual. An Adler mechanic here in Australia told me to use the Adler 205-370 manual as the mechanics of them is basically the same. Sadly I found neither of the easy to follow, may be it's just me. Bert.

Needles are #328 or 214x1 for canvas and #328LR or 214x2 for leather. Manual is available on Adler's site last time I looked. Bert

Looks like an Adler 105 series, even the pot look like the Adler pot. Bert.
