My delivery must have been a fluke judging from everyone else's experience. I don't live near a distribution center so that could have affected the timing too.

2 Bag Punches 5 Strap End Punches

I say take them to the scrapper....it's all they are worth at this point. -
Buy it, make it, market it. If they don't like it they probably won't buy leather in the first place. Only ever had one person say anything negative about kangaroo leather - but it was because they love kangaroos. Soo much so that she had her computer hacked due to her outbidding someone on nearly everything kangaroo related on ebay several years ago. Surprisingly the hacker did nothing major, just locked her computer up for the night with a blank screen stating "No Roos Tonight". We laugh about it now but it was freaky when it happened. I've never used it but would love to someday. Same thing goes with horse, just can't tell my wife or she'll throw it out (she said she would).

It's been over a year since I ordered from them but if I remember correctly it was approximately 3 weeks after I placed the order to having two spools in my mailbox in the midwest. I'd guess normal shipments to take between 2-4 weeks. IMO - Worth the wait and I'll order again (unless I find something I like better). Your mileage may vary.

Make "discount" boxes and throw everything in for something close to their sale price (example $2 box with keyfobs, $10 box with wallets). People are always looking for deals and say those didn't turn out good enough to put your mark on. Heard of others doing it and it turning out well.

I believe that art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. - I had a much longer response typed but that summed it up perfectly.

Getting A Feel For Clicker Services Needed.
cgleathercraft replied to DoubleC's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
For me It wouldn't make much sense to have clicker dies on hand that I can't use on my own. That said, if I run onto some at an auction I probably wouldn't pass them up if they went for a decent price. Personally I'd be looking for a bulk pack of already clicked items (bracelets, keyfobs, other small items) that all I would need to do is tool, dye, finish, and assemble. Bulk pack quantities starting at 5 and going up to 100 would be good as they would service both small batches and large runs. And they could still be clicked out on an as needed basis. This does mean you would need a certain amount of overhead in leather. That by itself is another large hurdle with all different weights / types. Custom orders could be still be done this way with whatever leather a person wants. I can see where someone would want to send their own die to you to get clicked. Just wouldn't work for my needs right now. Best of luck! I'm interested to see what you come up with! -
That will depend entirely upon your project. However, when I have used antiques I have used it all over the entire piece then wiped off the excess. The process should be the same for all types of antiques. Always read the bottle and test on scraps! Tandy has a video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8MV5oXKak4

When Do You Stop Cutting Yourself?

+2 - one for each hand, sting like mad and take forever to heal. -
My previous job was working in the supply chain part of IT where we programmed/maintained/upgraded systems exactly like that. They can be a huge pain in the arse if not used consistently. One specific case I can remember is when we set up inventory control for a single item in the warehouse that was ran very poorly. Items were ordered on an as needed basis but not consistently accounted for so double ordering was very common. Found over $50K worth of unusable inventory that we sent back. The supplier took it but said never do that again lol. After the system was up and running for that particular piece of the company the double ordering was completely eliminated along with missing inventory. I've worked on my own inventory control program for leather and supplies off and on over the past couple of years and haven't really had anything pan out like I prefer. If there is enough interest in seeing something like this then I would like to hear what everyone would like to be able to do. No it wont do your taxes for you lol, but it may be able to help with the cost of items.

When Do You Stop Cutting Yourself?
cgleathercraft replied to Chief31794's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
After growing up on a farm and working as a mechanic I've found that cuts are inevitable. I've got to the point where I rarely notice anymore unless its deep and I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing. I don't know how but I've managed to not ruin any leather yet (now I will). My day job is sitting in front of a computer all day so the most I have to worry about there is paper cuts. But even paper is being used less and less. To prevent cutting myself I usually plan my cuts to keep my hands hands out of the way and be really careful. My round knife took a nice chunk of skin with it one day. Wouldn't have known if it wouldn't have embedded itself a good way into my fingernail. -
No longer needed - Got one ordered.

Everyone I have checked has a huge lead time to if someone has one with a mag I'm interested in buying. Leads are appreciated as well. I prefer PayPal.

Removing Copper Rivets...not That I Need To.....duh
cgleathercraft replied to plinkercases's topic in How Do I Do That?
Ground the peen end off with a dremel ...took a while and the leather got a little warm. Not enough to damage i don't think but it worked in a pinch. The other way with a drill press. Worked much faster obviously cleaner job too. The dremel kept sliding around and i scuffed the leather a couple times. (flesh side and was hidden). I would recommend a drill over a dremel. -

Volume knobs on older amps had volume levels from 1-10. "turning it up to 11" is playing louder than possible because it's awesome. I'm no hardware expert when it comes to music but found that one out playing Guitar Hero and Rockband in college. Thought this was worth mentioning again since it's helped me out more than I realized until now. Also, clean, well taken care of tools will outlast us and our kids. -
Alcohol/spirit Lamp/burner For Heating Leather Crease Tools?
cgleathercraft replied to Tannin's topic in Leather Tools
Candles will leave soot on the metal (from my experience). I suggested chafing fuel as a ready-to-use option that is cheap. But - after reading the comments, I have some glass baby food jars with metal lids that could be made into one much cheaper using alcohol than buying something ready to use.
