  8. I don't think there is any advantage or disadvantage. ..I think it is purely for looks. I may stand corrected, there are a lot more knowledgeable people on here besides me.
  9. I dye the inside of mine most of the time, I like the whole holster to match. The only time I don't dye is when a customer request that he/she does not want the inside dyed or I have just used an oil finish, then it only gets oiled. I guess it is really up the the craftsman or the customer and what he or she likes. Troy

  13. I was thinking of making a 1907 Rifle Sling, but I have no idea where to get the "sling claws"...I'm not sure if this is what they are called, but they hook the two sling straps togeather...Please Help. I have attached a pic to show what they look like. Thanks, Troy
  14. I agree with Camano...This is the way I do it also.
  15. I get the W & C tooling leather or the skirting leather for my holsters...from the side I use the back and shoulder for holster and the belly for small projects like key chains. Make sure you get their #1 grade, I purchased the next grade down and it had several imperfections.
  16. Wickett & Craig...skirting/tooling leather...8/10 oz. #1 grade...you can't go wrong. Their great people to work with. They will even allow you to go to their tannery and pick out what you want.
  17. My first project was a holster for a Glock 22. I could not afford a custom made holster, so I made my own. I was then hooked with the craft...now I sell custom holsters, key chains and other leather items to support my hobby.

  20. I am a lieutenant with a Sheriff's office...will be retiring in December.
  21. I use 4.5 to 5 times the length of my stitch line. This has worked out will for me using a saddle stitch.
  22. Can I get signed up too ?
  23. I use a plain ol' utility knife...with a new blade...I've tried the round knives, but can't get the hang of using them.
