  1. Cool, I like that very much! Maybe I'll try making it from scratch, buying overseas is always such a hassle. I love the colours on yours by the way, may I ask what you use?
  2. Beautiful in its simplicity, very nice
  3. Awesome strap! Very nice detail, the brick pattern. So neatly painted too, very well done.
  4. Very pretty! How did you come up with the design for the bull?
  5. That's great, very original! Maybe trim it round by putting it in the lathe? Maybe still in the mould?
  6. A very incompatible thing! Take it easy on the stitching
  7. That's so great! With all the pockets ^^ Is it lined?
  8. I must say I still quite like the old one! Pretty as the new one may be ^^ The sheaths look really cool, great idea.
  9. If you make each piece a bit better than the last you'll end up a master
  10. I quite like the design of that. Just some suggestions. Look up wetforming, the pouch on the front can be a lot neater when you make a wooden shape that you can use to mould the leather over. Stitches look much neater when you make a groove for the stitches to fall in, and use the saddlestitch technique (two needles). I can't really see from the pictures if the roses are tooled, but some more background stamping would help and maybe some more colouring to bring out the design. If you are looking for some nice designs, look for Al Stohlman.
  11. Thanks everyone, for your kind words! Colt, I think the western style is sort of embedded in this craft. To me that is one of the things I find attractive about it, particularly florals and basketweaves. The association with country/western must have something to do with shared origins! Although I love the traditional designs I try to step out of the comfort zone so to say. I must confess that sometimes turns out disastrous, but that's part of the fun
  12. Very nice, I love to see work in progress. Something particularly I like is the checkering inside the letters. Is it all handstitched by the way? For the looks or is it lined?
  13. Thanks! I have a feeling this section of the forum doesn't get a lot of visits...
  14. Hi everyone, This is my second guitar strap. I made it for a good friend of mine, who wanted to have one made by me but found the flowers a little bit unsuitable for his metal band performances ;-) So I tried a Norse/Celtic design and came up with this, a snake and knotwork. Initial sketch: Drying from tooling, unstaged but appropriate background with dragon egg, Game of Thrones and axe: And the final result. Bloody difficult getting the strap in one nice picture. Not to indemnify, but the pics sure don't do the real thing much honour! The colours look a lot different out of the harsh sunlight. So you'll just have to take my word for it ;-) I can only see the many mistakes I made so I'm very curious about your opinions, any input is appreciated! Frederiek
  15. I think you did an amazing job, I particularly like how you did the round stitching for the lock
  16. Thanks! I don't have a neat trick for the colouring unfortunately, just brushes and patience To finish it off I used tan antique, just to fill in all the creases I didn't reach with the dye.
  17. Thank you The new owner (I don't think it's his guitar) just sent me this:
  18. Thank you all very much for your kind words! Monica, I absolutely adore your violin bags so I have something to wish in return Haha yes rifle buttons, or sam browne studs. It took me a fair bit of research to find that out too.
  19. It's beautiful, what I like most is how you coloured it. +1 stitch-by-hand-while-watching-TV I really don't like stitching
