  1. Really nice. Is it wet molded? Any photos of the interior?
  2. Nice work. Did you stitch the keepers in? Nice crease on them. I've read not to stitch across straps because it weakens the strap. I'm sure a watch strap will be fine. What do you think?
  3. To get the wheel to pierce anything you've got to really push down hard. Mine was just marked. I'm not making anything now w/12 just practicing for watch straps or maybe zipper pulls.
  4. Just practicing with my VB pricking wheel 12tpi. Wheel says 12 on it but measures about 11.5 per inch.
  5. Impeccable carving/stamping as always. Finish is pretty awesome too.
  6. Just got a nice light for $8.99 at IKEA. I think I'm going to go back and get another. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20370383/
  7. I have a 9 and I use Lin Cable 632 ... I think it's a geat fit. 8 might be a little large but would work with 532. 10 would be fine too with 632.
  8. I've got a box of throw aways. My first wallet was the one from the Tandy kit. The second was stamped and the interior was calf from Tandy and my MIL sewed it on a machine then I handstitched it to the exterior. Then a few card wallets and sleeves to work on my stitching. These were from about 2-2 1/2 years ago.
  9. Thank you Bill, you're too kind! I see you're up late spreading cheer on all the posts.
  10. Check Hunio's (who goes by huns now and you should follow him on Instagram) post for the gusset pattern. Photos 5 & 7. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=56868&hl=
  11. Maverick website says this is 3.5 oz. It's the Blue Lagoon in their closeout section... Really cheap... But hey that's what you should be learning on. Don't waste that good leather!
  12. Side view of both gussets. The first bag is floppy because of the position of the pocket, the weight of all the brass and I failed to fold some of the "legs" under. The second gusset has the correct fold underneath and I lined the top edge.
  13. Thanks Monica. I like the pocket & brass hardware strap attachments better on the first too. I'll get a photo of the gussets soon, I've got some edge paint drying. The gussets and the body turned out better on the second one. On the first one the body was 3 pieces, front, back and bottom. I just used one piece for the second. The gussets on the second are folded correctly on the bottom and that made for a more ridged bottom and I lined the top edge with a thin slice of leather, stitched and painted the edges. The first bag was all 9 spi. The gusset/body seam on the 2nd is 7 spi.
  14. Sorry about the poor photo quality. I think I have enough leather left to do a third. I learned a lot and I've got a few more changes in mind to make the next one better. Thanks! Once I get the bag where I want it, I plan on lining it and using some nicer leather. I've got a few tools to buy too.
  15. Side by side. I may end up changing the squared pocket on the second.
  16. Here is the second. I attached the zipper different on the second. The first had strips down each side with the edges painted and the second I did a folded edge and stitched to the inside. As you can see I also attached the rolled handles different. I got the gusset design from Hunio's Summer Bag post.
  17. I finished the first bag and went ahead a did a second one with a few changes. Here is the first.
  18. Nice work. I just did a couple straps but they weren't padded. I think the only thing I'd change would be to start the taper of the padding sooner and have it taper out when it gets to the holes.
