  1. Tandy Leather now sells both a football kit and a baseball kit in their 2015 catalogue. A gal I know tooled a beautiful Sheridan design on a baseball. It looked awesome! I haven't seen the football tooled yet.
  2. Awesome! You are very generous. Thank you for the pattern!
  3. Howdy - I went thru my folders, but did not find the exact pattern. However, for anyone interested in similar billfold construction with the veg tanned inside corner (and filigreed) pockets, several patterns can be found in Al Shelton's Pro-Patterns Series Two booklet, and F.O. Bairds Leather Secrets book page 45. Hope you find your pattern. Good Luck!
  4. Howdy - I'm looking for a vintage Tandy "Paul Bunyon Jr" purse pattern, which is slightly different than the "Paul Bunyon" purse. I attached pics. If anyone has a pattern they don't mind parting with, I'd love to purchase it! At this juncture in my "lack of" experience, I'm not ready to make my own pattern and risk wasting good leather!!
  5. Jazzman, Let us know when you finish your first project. You're at the right place to get help!!
  6. Just started tooling my first gun holster!

  7. Thanks Jazzman...same to you! When are you gunna post some pics? I'd luv to see some of your work!
  8. Happy Veterans Day! A sincere thank you to our LWN members who have served in the armed forces, and have protected our country and our freedom.

I want to add my thanks too. Cheryl

  9. Bruce Johnson - OMG I found your webste when I first started leatherwork, and so admire your work! We keep our horse (recently had to put our 2nd horse down) at Basso's Areana in North Livermore off Vasco Rd, and I work at the Livermore VA. I'd LUV to take a road trip to see your shop. My "shop" is where our kitchen table used to be. The table was replaced with a big vintage desk. Fortunately my family is very supportive of my leatherwork. Hubby Mike drives me to Tandy in Union City every Saturday for classes, and he tolerates my leather overflowing into the dining room. Early on I bought the 3 editions of Al Stolhmans Encyclopedia of Saddlemaking at Tandy, and a saddle pattern on ebay... eager for the day when I have the experience and confidence to make one! Tramp - Cool ride. What kind of MC accessories do you make?
  10. Ohhh Monica - My heart sank when I saw the pic! I've spilled a few, but on tile (The grout is still discolored). My spills are mostly a bright red color...as in bloodshed. I take pics of all my owies, and now have quite a portfolio. haha! Send us a pic after cleanup and final "repairs". And God Bless your darling husband!!!!
  11. Nice work Manypawz. The cases on your ETSY site are very cool!
  12. Leese, that is a very clever design! I am amazed (and intimidated) by the awesome talent on this website! I look forward to seeing your next creation.
  13. Thanks Tramp. Van Gogh sold one painting in his lifetime...named the Red Vineyard at Arles...but your point is well taken! BTW, what is your ride? Besides the 4-legged kind, my other horse is a 2000 Harley Road.Glide with killer flames on the fairing, tank and fenders.
  14. I'm a country girl from California! I grew up in a rural community, and my first exposure to leather tooling was admiring the leathercraft projects created by my 4-H "horse project" leader. The beautiful things he made seemed magical. I never dreamed it was something I could ever do myself. Forward clock 45 years (give or take), and I was still admiring tooled leather. I purchased a gorgeous vintage tooled purse at a thrift store, and hung it on my wall as artwork so I could admire it daily. For my 53rd birthday, my hubby bought me a beginners Tandy leathercraft kit, and I haven't stopped tooling since. As I mentioned in my profile, he claims that gift turned out to be the most expensive present ever, cause I wanna spend lotsa $$ for tools, stamps, leather, and other pricey supplies (U know what I mean!!) . The first year I just made stuff for friends and family as gifts cause I didn't think anyone would want to buy my stuff. After nearly 15 months of experience under my belt, they are now making requests! Hubby says (and rightfully so) I have to start recuping my expensenses! I think that is a hard transition, cause I still fight the feeling that I'm not good enough to sell my work. Any advice from fellow LWN members about how to deal with such feelings would be appreciated. I posted some of my first year projects on my profile gallery. I think this is the link: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=gallery&user=43733.
  15. Nice collar Spence! Thanks for sharing. I purchased a snake skin several weeks ago, but haven't mustered the courage to try an inset yet. The skin is "puckered" and does not lay flat. I wet it to flatten it, but it dried all "puckery" again. Any words of advice?
  16. Doncha just luv it when you finish a project, and think whoo-hoo, this turned out really cool!

Next best is when you see someone using and loving what you made...

  17. Don't limit yourself to just "Leathercraft" patterns. I just did a quick internet search and found American Indian portrait patterns to purchase (so no prob with copyright infringement) in other crafts such as scroll saw, wood burning and even cross stitching! Check out the cover of the "Wild West" scroll saw pattern book.
  18. Bravo!! I attempted my first pair of arm guards before seeing your post. I'll definately need to dial it up a few notches and try your design!
  19. Congrats on the new Indian. Love the American Iron! I have a 2000 Harley Roadglide. As a 3rd generation biker, I appreciate a good rumble. For Indian Head patterns, check out the old Leather Crafters journals on ebay. You frequently see Native American tooling projects in the center pullout sections. Good Luck.
  20. I have a Cobra Class 4. Awesome machine! www.leathermachineco.com
