  1. If that's for a dog, I would not want to meet it in a dark alley if it was mad at me :/ Stitching and edges look pretty good though
  2. I noticed the screws attaching it but wasn't sure if they went all the way through but I can see now how you did it with the strap going around the front that way keeping the screws from having to go through to the inside and touching the gun
  3. I have to agree with you Rohn, not exactly a color scheme I would go with for myself but regardless of the color, it still looks great and as always, wonderful to see your work. Just curious about the bottom strap, is it just for looks or does it unsnap and have a purpose?
  4. That's good to know for future projects
  5. Chief, will the drum dyed black wet mold as well as the regular veg tanned leather?
  6. they have multiple colors as well but it was suggested to me to get the clear since it can be used on top of any other color. And glad to help out
  7. with the vinegaroon, it works its way pretty much through the leather so it would work for both the inside and the outside. If you go with the clear edge paint, won't matter what the color is, it will allow it to show through.
  8. Case looks really good to me. If you are concerned about the dye coming off, you could always go with vinegaroon for black. Where it's a chemical reaction, no dye to rub off. I like Edge gloss for edges and flats of projects, might be a bit better then the tan kote for the insides
  9. Like Chief says, looks great. One small thing I noticed was on the top in your stitch line, it looks like you cut and burned the thread just before you got to the spine. I would have pulled that one through and burned it on the inside so it wasn't as noticeable when the bible was closed. The edges would have looked even better if done with the Mexican Round braid like Chief uses on a lot of his things.
  10. I think that was the one I used. I'll run a closer stitch line to tighten it up and keep it in mind for any future ones I do. It's a learning process and one I'm enjoying
  11. Thanks camano, like I said, haven't done much in the way of holsters so the things you have pointed out are nice things to know. I was following the directions for a pattern I found and it didn't say to get in there close but it does make sense. I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.
  12. Haven't gotten into guns because their isn't a big market around here but had a customer contact me asking so figured I'd try one first. Made from 6oz veg tanned, dyed with dark cocoa brown and finished with carnauba creme. I know I should have left more on the left side where the belt loop is, will on the next one. Just used a toy gun to mold it with since it was just a test
  13. great work as always Chief is the braiding on the last wallet just the round braid done flat? It looks really nice
  14. beautiful work! wish I could paint like that
  15. Adjustable tan guitar strap. Hand stamped and hand carved rose. Made from 7-8oz leather and lined with 4oz drum dyed leather. Edges are hand laced. Used a slider with a button stud to do the adjustment. I hate doing the lacing, not that it's hard to do but just takes forever
  16. Wild Bill - Never thought of a train, that would be cool. Not sure there is enough room to do a floral pattern around a train though. Maybe someone better at tooling could do it but my floral stinks Monica - thanks, really not that hard to do. Those ones are about 2.5" wide and the back piece was cut 7" long if I remember right and then trimmed once it was all put together
  17. I have 2 different ones, don't carry either but I wanted to try using forms so figured try it on something small first. You could also use them for other small things like change I guess. Now working on a new phone case for myself using the same process
  18. looks really good. I like the stamp you used on the front flap. The only thing I noticed is the slits for the studs seems to be going down towards the same direction a pull would be in. I don't know if that will be an issue but usually I see them going in the direction away from the stress where they will be harder to open by accident.
  19. Just a couple of pocket watch cases I turned out today. Made from 5-6oz veg tanned leather. The darker one is mahogany stain and a gears stamp and the lighter one is saddle tan. I cut out the form from 5/8" plywood then made a matching outer and clamped them together with the leather in between. Let them dry for about an hour before staining. All hand sewn. Instead of burnishing the edges I dyed them black and used clear edge coat.
  20. I look forward to v2 using the oval punch I have a couple of different sizes, they are very handy for a lot of things like guitar straps and stitchless bags using strips
  21. looks really good and very ingenious way of closing it. Only thing I would suggest is picking up an oval punch to make the hole a little more even instead of punching multiple round holes
  22. Thanks, it does look great but man, does it take a lot of time
  23. I have a payment coming in this week so I may go buy one, along with other things I don't really need lol
  24. Thanks Monica. I went squared off just because I always have an issue cutting it rounded and I don't have a round strap cutter yet
