  1. As usual Chief, beautiful work. You are certainly an inspiration to become better at this
  2. quite the variety, looks really good
  3. only problem with those sonatubes is most are coated with some kind of waxy coat which would probably rub off on the leather
  4. I'm moving in a month to a place with a basement that will become my workspace and I'm thinking I'll be doing the same thing. Be nice to be able to have it hanging so you don't have to fight the curl when trying to cut out a piece although I might end up going with just some kind of heavy blanket to cover it for now until funds are a little better BTW, . . . main computer is down or I'd show pics, . . . for leather storage in my shop, . . . I just made a stand up box, . . . 4 each 2 x 12's in a box, . . . 4 ft x 8 ft, . . . hinged the front 4 x 8 of OSB, . . . nailed the back piece on, . . . put in some rods, . . . and I have a leather vault, . . . 32 cubic feet, . . . allows all my leather to hang straight (gets rid of most of the curls) and I can just open the door, . . . take quick inventory anytime. Beats the devil out of drawers, rolls, boxes, etc. at least IMHO. May God bless, Dwight
  5. That's the way it happens, you start out making one little thing and it turns into an obsession lol I used to keep mine rolled and only issue I had was trying to get it flat enough to cut for projects. I started hanging mine flat in my closet with a blanket covering it to keep the light off it.
  6. That's really cool. I'd love to have some kind of a mill to make my own stamps.
  7. Looks really nice. Sometimes the best design is the most simplest to make. I think your customer will be happy with it, once you make it again for the correct side
  8. I was thinking there was a method to your madness 2 layers of 5/6oz would have given you the same thickness but would have been a lot harder to bend around the pin but the 3 thinner layers is a really good idea and really looks great. And it looks like you did skive the one end down a bit where the clasp attaches. I may have to give this a try sometime if I ever get a watch lol
  9. Nice work. Is the middle piece just to give a gap for the pin to go through?
  10. Very nice but I hope you put a welt in on the blade side to prevent the blade from wearing on the rivets
  11. really cool. how do you find the acrylic stands up when using it for a stamp?
  12. Looks really good. Really different but in a good way
  13. Thanks Colt, that's good to know
  14. Really nice work but I was under the impression that latigo couldn't be tooled and only veg tanned could be tooled.
  15. Looks pretty good. Almost looks like a pair of jeans in the design
  16. stitching and edging look good but only thing I'm not sure on is the 3 rivets holding the holster to the strap. Won't they wear on the gun and possibly loosen over time?
  17. would be easier to say if you included the pics
  18. One thing I would do is skive the end down where the buckle is attached so it's not as bulky then bring the sheepskin up and skive it as well
  19. The design itself is good but 2 changes I would have done are sewing a loop on the back instead of using a clip as I find they can come off and with a phone that expensive, you don't want to loose it and second, I would have wet it all down then wrapped the phone in a plastic bag and placed it inside so it would mold to the phone. If you do it now though, you may loose some detail on your stamping. As far as the saddle stitch, it is about the strongest, otherwise, saddle makers wouldn't be using it for as long as they did. The Aussie leather conditioner is more for hot/cold dry areas so it may be all you need since you are in Australia. And it does say it waterproofs so it does sound like what you are looking for.
  20. I'll be adding that to my shopping list for when I go over today
  21. Great work and interesting way of holding everything in. Never would have thought about doing that to hold the bible in during transport
  22. As usual Chief, everything looks great and I think you got the color to match pretty good on the holster
  23. I've never used a pricking iron, I have a stitching wheel that I use. Do you use anything like gumtrag or beeswax on your edges before rubbing them?
  24. Great work. Wish I could carve as well as you do
