Hi guys, i havent posted in a while, so i thought i would share a couple of things i have made lately. The first, is a guitar strap made out of bison with a suede lining. It has a cut out on the back where i have inserted some neoprene and covered it with a piece of chrome leather. The other piece is a simple bangle. I was trying out the new mabling gel from Goods Japan...lots of fun and mess with that product. cheers caroline ps....why do cats always have to investigate everything.... my tonkinese...Google

I work inside as well, so a silent compressor will be an ABSOLUTE must... if you just want to airbrush big areas, a cheaper airbrush will do, but if you want to do small delicate airbrushing, buy the best DUAL action airbrush you can get. Even better....take a one day intro course on airbrushing and the instructor will be able to guide you... . Also, if you have an airbrush, you must know how to completely pull it apart and put back together....learn this before you start using it. There are lots of good guides on youtube...i use an Iwata with a top fill...i have had the bottom syphon, but i found i like the top fill...probably just preference. cheers

All In One Motorbike Seat And P Pad

Thanks for the all the kinds words. I am happy to report that the owner loved the seat. I was very nervous giving it to him, as what he asked for, was a sugar skull with roses and a few swirly things. I was on holidays at the time and it was the only thing i was working on, and i just kept on working on it. My big mistake was with the lacing. I wanted the lacing to show more so i made the top smaller than the bottom. Even though i had the top tied tightly to the bottom, when i started lacing, i found that the top was moving towards where i was lacing and would end up entirely off centre ...doh! So, i unlaced what i have already done and ended up having to lace in small sections opposite each other. So i would lace about 15cm then do the same on the opposite side. Thank goodness that worked, but i wasnt happy with the lacing, it turned out a bit loose. Anyway, the owner was happy with the seat and was happy to pay the extra i charged him. He's a great customer, he never wants a quote..."charge me what its worth"...he tells me! cheers caroline -

Thanks for the nice comments, unfortunately, the customer was not happy with the design on the old skool seat and i will be making another one for him. I think there was some miscommunicaiton on my part, so i will be happy to make another for him....another lesson learnt!

Hairdressing trainees use full size heads... you can get male and female .... great for mask making after all the hair is cut off... I have three... male ...female and another female that is cut in half and mounted on a board for larger masks that need to dry flat. cheers http://www.pivot-point.com.au/hairdressing-tools-supplies-special/specials-clearance/mens-hairdressing-mannequin-headform.html

welcome chris, i know you will enjoy the forum.....you need to resize the pics before uploading...800 x 600 i find is a good size. cheers caroline (Geelong Vic)

the sliding knots are spanish ring knots with two passes....i always use a strong glue when finishing the ends...i feed the loose ends back through the knot and the glue will hold them secure...i never just cut the ends off. cheers

hey pin...i have the same machine and love it...i had to replace the motor only because it went WAY to fast....i put a servo on it and now it goes nice and slow...i took the binding bits off and have bought a few different feet for it...only complaint is the smallish bobbin. I paid $600 but i think i got a bargain.

laban, i have been to greenhalgh and use their online ordering sometimes. The post out really quickly. I find their lacing a bit thick and haven't used their leather. Mostly i use them for hardware etc. For leather and lacing i like to use lefflers. They have a website but it is like a dogs breakfast! You can join their 'club" and you then get 33% off regular prices. Lefflers is definitely worth a visit...just allow lots of time and expect to spend some Dollars!. Dyes, i usually buy from birdall-leather and sometimes their hardware as well, they often have good specials. You should also check out "Dimension in Leather", its a bi annual week long conference held in brisbane with the next one to be held in 2013 in july. Week long classes for the beginner and the advanced...it will be the BEST time you can have. Teachers come from all over the world! cheers caroline
