  1. More great work from you....i love the shape you have come up with...on the tanks in the pics they almost look like a vest.....tank vests...
  2. spinner, this is so clean and well designed. The lacing is great...especially the corners..lol...i hate lacing corners! The bracket design is very clever...no one will be stealing that bag and many will want too!!!!! I am sure you will be getting lots of orders....put your makers stamp on the front so the admirers will know who to call!!!!
  3. I have just got back from Dimensions in Leather...had the BEST time once again. It was so wonderful to meet Clay Banyai and his wonderful wife Stacey. Clay was very busy with his classes, but i took a couple of classes with Stacey and we had a wonderful time. I took a bag making class and flower making class with Cherryl McIntrye (Al Stohlman winner 2008) and a box making class with Robert Witthahn . Another wonderful teacher was Brad Martin...i confess i had never heard of him, but his work was AMAZING!!!!! The photo below is of one of his big pieces. He had some belts in the same style with him and I asked him if he did the bead work himself and he laughed and told me it was all leather carving!
  4. Welcome to the forum and prepare for your new addiction!!! Hours and hours of very helpful info here and the members are very willing to help. Even though you may be a bit isolated, we have some great stores that take phone and internet orders and have very fast delivery. Check out www.birdsall-leather.com.au and www.leffler.com.au , www.maclace.com,au just to name a few. leffler have a great range but their website is a dogs breakfast. The have a great catalogue that is worth getting and you can join their club which gets you a big discount on purchases. Cheers from Geelong Victoria
  5. spinner, thats just beautiful... i love the card holder!!!! The pre dyed leather looks very nice... i have never seen anything like it here and am just a tad jealous of the supplies that you have access too. thanks for the under view...lol cheers
  6. Just finished this one....standing rifles bike seat to go on a BSA. I would have liked to add something else..the rifles seem a bit lonely, but the customer only wanted the rifles. Anyway.... off to Dimensions In Leather in a few days....ONE WHOLE WEEK of leather classes!!!! Yippie!!!
  7. very nice bib, i like the design...did you put a lining on the back...when i have made these in the past i have glued a very soft piece of leather on the back that covers the lacing so that it doesnt scratch the tank. cheers

  13. winterbear, i didnt change the foot or feed dogs, just the needle...it didnt mark the leather but i think it would if it was veg tanned leather, but it work sew that sort anyway. cheers
  14. I desperately want a leather sewing machine but cant afford one at the moment, so i pulled out my home domestic machine and put in a leather needle. I picked up some scraps from the local tannery and made myself this back pack. I found the machine can sew two layers with ease but thats about it.

  17. I have been seeing these codes everywhere lately and decided to investigate. I found the best explanation here..http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/how-qr-codes-can-grow-your-business/ I think they are used mostly by the younger generation, but i think they will become part of our life. We are lazy creatures by nature, and these replace having to type in web addresses etc into our smart phones or tablets. I have found the best use is in print media, for example on the back of your business card. This way the customer can put your web address into their smart phone, ipad or tablet with ease. All phone and tablet platforms have barcode scanner apps for free. Here is a link to the page where you can create your own qr codes http://qrcode.kaywa.com/ Here is the qr code for the leatherworkers.net cheers
  18. welcome to the forum....looking forward to seeing more of your work cheers

  21. great work!!!.....now it really is time to change your user name....leatherrookie is totally inappropriate ... lol
  22. I can definitely see the improvement, and the masks are a nice shape. Start saving for the airbrush NOW...it will add the dimension in color that you never achieve with hand painting. cheers
