  1. The Singer 114 is another option! There are also Japanese "Treasure" brand machines that are a 114. I have an Indian built version called the 1114 but it is a bit rough.......
  2. Very cautiously I will say that it will do the job - at least for a while. A single needle industrial embroidery head will cost more but they are designed to do a high number of cycles and so will handle the load better. There are a range of Cowboy machines designed for this type of work on cowboy boots but they are expensive. It all comes down to how often you need to use it
  3. Maddmax22!!!!!!!!!! The adjustment for that is in the manual. If the reverse is variable than there is a loose screw in the mechanism. Most of the time the Cowboy machines are set correctly but in transit things can move so I need to make adjustments and tighten everything up. There is no inherent problem with the design of the 441 clones or the majority of the parts used so you need to look at the specific mechanism and adjust it. Usually the dealer sorts these things and any of the dealers on this site would be very unhappy if the machine arrived out of tune as it means they need to spend time placating the customer and then sorting the problem!! None of us mind the time with the customer but we are always unhappy that the problem arose in the first place.
  4. Without doubt clones will hit the market. If someone was really smart they would get some modifications done to address the inherent problems with the Tippman.
  5. Sorry Wiz, I was flicking through and did not properly read your post until after I put mine up. I do not mind the spelling of my name as long as people can find me!!!! I am putting together an order with my Taiwanese supplier so I will add some 42-5 bobbins. If people want them then please PM me to give me an idea as they are a slow mover and I normally only get 50 at a time.
  6. Almost every machine that uses a standard shuttle type maxes out at M20 (#138). Anything heavier needs an open frame shuttle
  7. A common issue with horizontal shuttles. Vertical shuttles are less fussy
  8. That is a high speed straight sewer. Great for making shirts
  9. 95k40 is about as useful as a domestic sewing machine so do not waste your money. 31k47 is great for work up to about 4mm. If you can get it for 100 quid then it is a good starter machine. Save your pennies for a machine that will do the heavy work
  10. Yetibelle, I have seen very few Chinese 29k clones that actually work and I would go as far as to say that most are the worst excuses for sewing machines ever marketed.
  11. Ronnie at Techsew
  12. Looks great. Only one question; there are hundreds of thousands black 31k15's so why what another colour?
  13. WIZ, I am Anne Bonny's Locker. Have had issues with losing my login details. I wish I could sell bobbins for $US12 each. Maybe I should order some more as I sell them for about $US3 each Methinks that somebody is taking the piss at $US12 each. Normally I adjust the 42-5 to take the 135X16 needle
  14. It is a Japanese built straight sewer http://www.parts.singerco.com/IPpartCharts/431D200A_201A.pdf
  15. Te splitter alone sells for that
  16. As a machine seller my first question is "what are you trying to do?" Domestic embroidery machines are very expensive compared to dedicated industrial machines. If you want to do basic free motional embroidery then a Singer 15 with an embroidery foot will do a much better job
  17. If all else fails take a large hammer to it
  18. Servo motors come in a huge range of varieties - just as sewing machines do. I import the Cowboy servo motors and they are great for most machines but they are set for a maximum of 1500RPM at the factory which does not suit every application. With the factory support I can reprogramme them for higher speed. The ramp up rate of most motors can be changed. Sometimes this is a user function but usually it is a special set up for the factory that the dealer can work you through.
  19. The new bobbins from Taiwan are slightly smaller than the originals but will not change performance. A 29-4 is probably only going to get a reasonable stitch length at 1/8" if you are lucky
  20. Left hand cylinder bed. I suspect that a CW8 belt would fit
  21. Repairing horse rugs is sewing machine abuse as no matter how clean they are there will always be fine dust that wears out the machine. Buy a machine for your quality leatherwork and another one for fixing horse rugs
  22. Bobbin is not threaded correctly in this picture. From inside the thread faces up and you pull it down though the slot, under the tension spring then up through the guide hole
  23. Are you threading it left to right?
  24. WOW, that is one of the first versions of the 29. At the time Singer did not use the numbering system so it was called the UFA - Universal Feed Arm Around this period all machines had a descriptive title and the numbers were introduced retrospectively
