  1. If you have trouble getting leather needles in Nm140 then just use 134 leather needles which are readily available. You may need to adjust the bed so the needle centres in the needle plate hole but that is rare. By the way.... These are not in any way related to the Singer 29 as they are based roughly on the 1860's German patcher design which pre dates the 29 by 20-30 years
  2. Heat will be required to bend it back into shape! After that you will need to have the bearing surface rehardened.
  3. The frame forms the hook! The hook is, in secret technical terms, "the pointy bit"
  4. Keep it for parts for the next one that comes along! This starts you on the slippery slope to being a collector LOL
  5. These machines - in my experience - are very sensitive to tension!
  6. I am not knocking the DIY versions as I love creating new things and seeing what others create! As I do this for a living I have to look at the time involved - unfortunately
  7. I have a spare in a machine but I have to put it in an electrolysis bath to get it out. PM me if you are interested.
  8. I have seen the Frobana run with the 45k closed frame shuttle with no problems. Whether or not the open frame makes any significant difference is a great question.
  9. Really sorry you had a bad experience with another dealer but all of us make mistakes when selling machines. Glad you are happy with the service from me and Cowboy Australia.
  10. The Cowboy "OUTLAW" machine will be available in October. It is a similar machine that has many improvements to the point where it is being Patented.
  11. I have built a few custom treadle machines and absolutely love them. The Singer 7 class is probably one of the heaviest treadles built and to keep up the momentum - which can be lost by the pittman rod binding at top and bottom dead centre - they used a crank shaft with two pedals offset at 180 degrees. Somewhere I have the manual for a Chinese machine that has a similar style treadle
  12. Great work mate. My only suggestion is that it appears to be most suitable for a large hand so a smaller gap between the handles would be preferable. Selling sewing machines is relatively easy but going the extra mile to make the machine suit the customer is an art form.
  13. If the foot lift lever works then it is OK but to me it looks as if it is in backwards!
  14. I love treadle machines and have built industrial treadle machines both old and new. Ideally to drive the 4500 I would use a band wheel that weighs about 10kg and have a diameter of around 200mm on the pulley.
  15. I have several hammers in my sewing machine tool collection.
  16. The heavy stand is something Solar, Toledo and Cowboy USA have available and they use it for the CB5500. We primarily went to the heavy stand as many machines (Not Cowboy) had been sold in Australia the past with a rather wobbly stand that looks very much like the standard Cowboy pedestal but wobbles something terrible in use. It also, of course, gives us a point of differentiation between other brands on the market. Every now and then I make custom tops and flat beds for various machines.
  17. The CB4500 manual is in the Queens English folks and fully understandable. PM me your email addy and I will send a copy Wonderboy
  18. There is a huge amount of information about these machines on pages such as this. As a Cowboy dealer I tell people to go to pages like this and get user feedback. There are a few things to note about price in Australia 1/ CB4500 is $4450 2/ That price is on the Heavy Pedestal table and not the lighter table that Cobra use although it is an option for $100 less. 3/ I do not know what QSM include but we supply pretty much every foot and plate you could want for normal use. Binders etc are options 4/ Personally I do not like EPS as - and this is feedback from many customers - you get to the end of a piece and want to stop, take your foot of the pedal and the mongrel goes the next stitch and ruins the job. We have an open weekend 17/18 June in Bundaberg and you are welcome to come
  19. I have made a stand alone version of this concept for a couple of customers. The advantage of mine is that is elbow operated and can be mounted anywhere so that the user has two free hands
  20. It looks like a feed-up-the-arm machine. Some of the long arm machines have the extra wheel as the standard one is too far away to reach
