    Al Stolman has a chart just for what your talking about. It's either in the pictoral or figure carving finesse book, they are for spirit dyes but I don't see why they wouldn't work for oil dyes.

    Does anyone know where I can find some 3/8" and 1/2" slotted conchos? I looked at Rio Rancho and their biggest is 3/16.

    David, that really depends on what kind of leather work your going to start off doing. Floral? figure carving? bags? billfolds? holsters? The basic tool list are different.

    He says they redress the old ways so they won't be lost to future generations. Sounds like another repeat of Al Stolman's stuff thats fairly cheap at Tandy, I could be wrong but thats the impression I got.

    sure a square knot will work, just tap it flat. With the thread going twice thru the holes it probly doesn't need a knot with a good glue like Barge.

    I'm guessing he sewed, left the ends between the fold then glued the fold down.

    Ray, It was a local buy sell trade site, I only had to go about 4 miles to pick it up. They come up every now and then for anywhere from 25 to 40 dollars. The player is built in, you just slide the cd-dvd into a slot on the side of the tv. Good luck finding one they are really nice to have.

    Ray, I put a wall mounted tv-dvd-cd player with remote in my shop. It's awesome for that, got it and the wall mount for 20 dollars on a buy sell trade site on facebook. It's worth the trouble. I don't have cable or an antenna so no tv but I can play music or watch dvds.

    Does that actually cut the leather or just crease it?

    Super sheen isn't a very good resister, use a lacquer based product like Clear Lac. the antique is meant to highlight the cuts and low lying areas, the tooling burnish takes care of the rest. I use the Feibling gel, work it in good then wipe off excess, no drying time. After the antique drys buff it with something soft before the final finish to get rid of what little streaks you might have.

    I looked on Tandy's website and couldn't find anything but the saddle lac spray, which I was told took the place of neat lac spray and was basically the same thing (they're both lacquer finishes). I couldn't find any liquid lacquer product at all. I'll look in my shop tomorrow and see for sure what it is. I used neat lac for years and really liked it but I can't tell any difference in the two. Long story short any laquer finish will work good.

    Rewet it and if you can't rewet the whole piece feather it out away from the stains, works most of the time.

    You said you have a local Tandy store, you can save shipping cost buying saddle lac there it also comes in liquid form. Saddle lac and clear lac are the same thing as the old neat lac, just sold under different brand names.
