I really like it, great sound and good electronics on board, has good neck adjustments to lower the action but the neck is a bit wide for my hands, almost all acoustics I've messed with have wider necks than electrics except maybe the ovations. I am in no way fooling myself that I am actually able to play, as a matter of fact I plain suck. but I can pluck out twinkle twinkle, some garcia riffs and some roots and blues rythum stuff. Its just that I always wanted a gibson since I was a kid, so I got one when I had the money. Who knew after living in the house for 11 years that the vent was never screwed in, and chose to fall off just when a guitar was sitting under it! wouldn't have believed it but it happened to me Would have been emotionally easier if it had fallen on my head but probably cost the same to fix, with healthcare costs today LOL

I and others that play much better than me, shy away from any metal on a guitar strap. Just to be alittle safer as far as scratches. alot of the straps made of modern materials have gone to nylon or plastic hardware. I suppose spanish braid on a buckle would be the way to go. This still will not prevent what happened to my gibson songwriter deluxe. The other day my son finished playing and inspite of my constant nagging he did not return it to the case, teenagers--Sheesh! anyway for whatever reasen while it was leaning on a chair the metal vent cover for the heating system directly above it on the ceiling to a dislike to it and fell putting a 3/4" gash in the lower bout. It didn't break thru the soundboard but a 1600 dollar guitar now needs about 300 dollars of work and will never be worth what it should be for resale after I am sittin pretty in valhala.

leather bondo/wood filler/fixer upper/hide something kinda stuff
Jordan replied to JustWakinUp's topic in All About Leather
Unfortunate that some companies sell garbage just to increase their bottom line. I would be tempted to return it and raise heck (utah speak for the uninformed) until the situation was made right. Some of these companies still don't get it! There is a line and unfortunately alot of them cross it way to often and consumers let them do it without complaint, oh well I guess we can't expect much from a walmart nation. One bad press moment tends to reach far more people than even the smallest of good deeds. Excuse my rant, I just returned from a shopping trip at "The Dark Side" shame on me I just couldn't help myself.LOL -
every penny helps these days, I am hoping disability gets a little cost of living raise this year, its hard to adjust from two full time salaries to less than one. Especially after 25 years of getting used to having money. LOL by the way I really like those Mocs you made, how do you attach crepe soles to them?

Hi all, I have been visiting this site pretty much daily, for about a month now and just had to express my thanks to all the posters, I have found a wealth of knowlege, great links and a rare willingness to share information with others. It had been a long search on the internet to find quality information about leatherworking especially for a total newb. Some guy in Utah a long time ago summed it up by stating "this is the place" or something to that effect. I hope I can contribute as my skills improve and thanks for putting up with my ramblings at times. How come they don't have any big shows here? Davis county in between Salt Lake and Ogden has a great convention center and lot's of rooms left over from the olympics, uhoh there I go rambling again geez I got to finish my workshop so I can get back to messing up leather. Thanks again y'all.....Jordan

it has been a long time 10+yrs since I delivered a load of avacados to Calgary in January. I remember being real cold, my fuel jelled and I got stuck there for 3 days and a pack of smokes cost me about 8 dollars US. I need to move to arizona even thinking about it I got cold. The drive west from calgary was stunning hiway 1 I think, a very beautiful country. The exchange rates will straighten out eventually, they always seem to anyway.

Absolutely outstanding work. I can't think of anyplace I could wear it to tho. Mountain man rendevous are pretty popular here in Utah, but I don't think they wore armor.

the number of gun and knife accessories
Jordan replied to leatheroo's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
thats why the anti gun politicians want to take the right to have them away. They are afraid that the law abiding citizens will get fed up and take back our government by force, which some say the founding fathers had in mind in the first place, if the government got to big for it's britches. Aint it grand, nothing like politics or religion to get the old juces flowing. I have always found it intersting to hear others opinions on hot topics. Can we talk about the sad state of healthcare in the states next -
Progress at last, one wall up one to go, Still have to insulate run the wiring hang the drywall and put down a rubber floor. Then I can move all my stuff from that freezing garage, luckily it's just on the other side of that door. Maybe I can be toolin again by christmas!

how do you decide prices for lessons?
Jordan replied to Rod and Denise Nikkel's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
My fatherlinlaw is a master clock maker, He has offered me an apprenticeship but he said up front it would take at least two years before I could hang out a shingle even then he said I would only be qualified to repair them not know enough to make them. He is 79 and started learning while a pow during battle of britan says he still learns new stuff everyday and it helped that he was a machinist by trade. He has tried the brief training route but ran into the same problems with ex students passing themselves of as master craftsmen, I think he only offered because I am family. ME109 for any interested, shot down twice. -
I remember some feature like that I think it was in msword, file sharing of somesort, with the main file on a server and all who were allowed could put it on thier workstation edit and add stuff then put it back on the server. I dunno I gave up on alot of this tech stuff when Win 3.1 came out. I am playing with Ubuntu linux right now.

we live is a world with alot of people, alot of them are not very nice and want to take what another person has, including thier life, by any means at their disposal. These people do not care about any laws on the books in any country in the world. I personally feel more comfortable having a weapon that I can use to protect myself, my wife, my children and my property when someone is trying to take it away without my permission. Unfortunately it is not effective on the worst offenders of all, Politicians they seem to want to take everything away from everyone to line their own pockets, it's not enough for them that they get a free ride condoned by the voters. Added... after more thought on the issue all political ramblings aside... A gun is a tool as any other, it has a specific use to get a job done, the improper use of any tool can result in injury, catastrophic on occassion. It is ultimately up to the individual to know the limitations of thier knowlege and that of the tool and get the proper training in the use of said tool wheather it is a headknife or a handgun. -

just a thought on this, in addition to the quandry of what knowlege and experience is worth, there is also the somewhat intangable issue of the need to pass it on so the art does not disappear. An example is, just try to find some young buck who is able to lay tile like the masters in that field did 20 - 30 years ago. I had a friend sum it up as "In todays mass production world no one takes pride in craftsmanship, they just go to walmart" just had to rant alittle....Jordan -
might there be a fellow deadhead here, definetly a long strange trip. Nice work for an old hippie LOL. I just heard joni on my lp "nobody asked van gough, paint a stary night again, man! Guess there are alot of us 50 somethings getting back to basics and redifining our place in a young man's world, if they only knew LOL....Jordan...my son looks at me like I'm crazy when I break out the old vinyl and rock out.

Yup the belts arrived, I am framing in the concrete walls in my basement work area so I haven't set it all up yet, insulation, wiring, drywall and rubber floor tiles will be next. Personal comfort gets more important the older I get. Slow going but It will be done before turkey day I hope.

Just a guess but I would check local hospital and clinics I would imagine they eventually throw the stuff away. Alot of them are transfering to digital so they don't have to store the stuff. A couple of clinics I have been to actually made me take mine home with me after a year. They said if they didn't they would drown in the stuff.LOL

Moulding with a set of metalworking dome tools would work they look like a rod with a ball bearing shape on the end I have seen sets offered of different sizes that have a block of steel that has domed areas machined into it for each size, not sure of the proper name of the tool but it puts domed dimples in flat stock. You could make one by welding a ball bearing on the end of some sort of metal handle. Some sort of laqure or a stainless steel finish so the wet leather will not turn black on contact would also be needed. The holster looks real good. If the edges are beveled more it seems to give me a better edge after wet burnishing.

S&W .460 Scoped rig
Jordan replied to carpfisher's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
conceal carry just left the building! Very cool, I saw a similar one on HBE website, eric larsen is his name I think. makes some outstanding holsters. -
Do you sew the body of the holster moulding
Jordan replied to Jordan's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
well maybe lay the bluegun on the leather at the angle needed then measure half the thickness of the barrel add the leather thickness on both sides to that and sew at that point? I guess I will have to try a few before I find the right spot to put a sewing seam that leaves enough leather for molding around the gun for a proper fit. Lucky I have scrap from other botched ideas.
