  1. I also am in need of a web presence, but not until Jan, feb, got alot to do before I get to that step.
  2. Yes bought from Ed on this board, it is not setup completely yet life is getting in the way, there is also a peice that mounts somehow and makes it into a flatbed
  3. Yup, now that I have a machine I will probably contact him again in the spring. A machine opens all kinds of avenues that would be way to time consuming by hand. I'll save that for prototypes and custom jobs.
  4. Velcro on the fender and "D" rings sewn to inside bottoms of the bags tied to the frame with a peice of leather. I made the bags (3) saddle and a tool bag for the guy who makes the bikes, $100.00, worth more but I was'nt thinking when I quoted him as all of it was hand sewn. The bikes were on display along with a bunch of older vehicles at a ford dealer about two weeks after I sold the bags to him. I had hoped for some more orders but he was not happy when I told him I had to raise my prices
  5. A drywall tool that looks like a palm held grater to trim edges of the cut drywall. cost about 5 bucks might work
  6. Here is a pic of the bags kinda hard to see but all I did was reduce the patterns fron the tandy pack of motorcycle accessories and I made some phone cases by modifying the tandy kit to suit other phones the one I like best fits my razr flat & skinny
  7. I perfer larger pics anyway better detail and size perspective, very nice strap although I would be worried about scratches with all that metal so close to my baby LOL
  8. I think the idea is to burnish the two pieces so they meld into one when looking at the edge so I would sew, edge then burnish until the edge looks to be one piece. I have not worked with linings so I could be completely off base on this.
  9. I found that at the street fair/farmers market in Ogden only 1 in 10 knew what they were looking at, the rest think it's the same stuff they buy at walmart. I sold alot of wristbands to those types, a couple of belts, wallets, watchbands, cell cases, dog collars and a set of saddlebags designed for a custom bicycle to the other type. Not very profitable but a good experience for someone who has to hone their sales and personal contact skills. And Yes, I will most likely do it again next summer as it was an enjoyable way to spend a saturday.
  10. I think that if you use anything but stainless you will get black leather it is a chemical reaction when wet leather is in contact with metal. You could dip the stamp in laquer or some type of coating and it will not stain the leather. I don't know if it will hold up to the stamping process without flaking off though.
  11. How about a tutorial from one of you guys, with photos showing the steps to make a couple of simple stamping tools? I don't know about others, but I am a visual learner, and photos of the process would be very helpful to me. Cash for stamps is becoming very thin, but I have alot of nuts and bolts hanging around my garage with nothing to do..Jordan... plus it will give me a chance to learn how to use my atlas lathe.
  12. I bought the 5 from Ed on this forum, have not used it yet as other stuff keeps getting in the way like remodling bathrooms and building out a shop area, but I am happy with the machine it appears to be built well and I forsee many years of use from it. I think the first few months will be just learning how to sew again. But I have alot of project ideas that I would not even have thought about if I was going to sew by hand.
  13. short of making some type of jig that will align, hold and punch all the holes at once I would lightly scribe a centerline mark off the distance between the holes and punch away. I get better the more holes I do.
  14. Ol'Skool just one more term that has been so overused and abused it is meaningless. But you are absolutely right it means different things to everyone based on their own experiences. Me, it is an old (30's 40's 50's) bike that has been stripped of all the unneeded stuff mainly to reduce weight and increase speed, but still street legal in a broad sense, and then personalized by the owner.
  15. The older tools are facinating, the form and function looks like a lot of thought went into it, the design of the tools have an artisans touch, not so much these days, seems like they just bang them out as cheap and fast as they can.
  16. That seems to have done the trick, thanks....Jordan who the heck is that handsome devil in the rayban Daddy-O's
  17. I can't seem to change my avatar, I have tried everything I can think of. The roseskull just changes, looks out of kilter and even after I delete it and replace it with the pic I want it just comes back. I want to change it to the same pic as my personal one. Dazed and cornfused in utah.
  18. Ebay and Paypal are one and the same, To me they are both scams to profit off others labors, unfortunatly there are very few other choices when selling on the internet. Just my feelings after trying to sell my beemer last year. I ended up selling it through craigs list.
  19. LOL, my wife's puppy drinks my coffee when I go looking for a doughnut so I guess having the frosting licked off is par for the course.
  20. Very interesting, the saddle has a very industrial look. 500 hundred years ahead of it's time, judging by todays techno industrial artwork style, it looks like it could have been made a few days ago.
  21. very cool idea, sounds like it can be a regular item, maybe quarterly. any sugar free ones available?LOL Jordan
  22. Ummm, turn the saddlebags around? Beautiful work, maybe a retention strap to keep the pistol in when going uphill over rough terrain? I read that in a stolman book, making cases, I think. Jordan
  23. Exellente! do you find that round holes work better than oval? I found that oval allows the belt to lay flatter. I also like the buckles, they look very solid, with a really good finish. Most I see available are rather flimsy and have very poor plating(read 3rd world mass production). Is that 2 layers of the same thickness or 1 with a liner? I hope I can sew that well eventually. Also I am curious as to price I would guess around $120. All in all very nice work ... enough of my rambling...makes me want to get back to work on my basement, so I can generate lots of scrap LOL Jordan
  24. I can only access services the rest list location as protected forum when logged in. If I do not log in I can access all of it.
  25. Love it. Having worked 8 yrs for a county public works department, I can say with confidence that supervisors are always parking their trucks in the way when they show up on a job site. LOL
