  1. Ain't that the truth, probably choke off the web with everyone sitting at this site reading.
  2. Thanks for the very good information I appreciate the help.
  3. My Father-in-law has about 6 in various stages of restoration, all are airheads from the 50's to the 60's. I hope to get another R69S probably the 68 setup for touring that he has. But I have to wait while my financial situation makes a market correction. LOL
  4. Front end and tank cap looks like the work of Rook or Roark can't remember exactly, as I put all my horse mags in storage. Very sharp looking, and solid construction, ape hangers gotta go though, to much police attention in most states, I'm sure after a few $ to the man they will be toned down a bit. The seat absolutley makes the bike great work by everyone involved.
  5. Search for it about two years ago, if it exists it is rare. as said save trouble and make your own.
  6. Sounds like that is my problem, I will use some type of oil on the next one. I did note the belt seemed very stiff after dyeing. Thanks.. Jordan
  7. I realize this has probably been covered ad-nauseum before the great crash of 08, but I need a little help. What and how do you apply to belts as a finish coat that will both provide a proper finish, soften the belt and not crack the leather? I made a belt 3/4 in wide 6/7 wt. designed to wrap double around the waist, dyed it tan with tandy pro dye then put a topcoat of fiebings acrylic sheen, after it was all done and was putting it on (the wife not me) the darn thing cracked across the belt in many spots and in others it crinkled up pretty bad? Am I missing a step, maybe some type of conditioning when I dye it? I dunno it does get frustrating at times to have it go south in the final steps.
  8. Old style bunson burner, used to come in chemistry sets before the government started protecting us from ourselves. LOL You should still be able to find one somewhere.
  9. Guess thats one of those live-n-learn moments, at least it was not your life savings, perhaps you can take solace in the hope that your $ will give him a hangover. I saw a thing the otherday that someone bought an item online and just got a picture of the item for their money. Amazing what lenghts some will go to for ill gotten gain.
  10. just my dry sense of humor, I would start over and redo b4 I downsized, but I don't have one right now so I guess I couldn't downsize even if I wanted to. I have a set of saddlebags waiting for a bike as we speak LOL.
  11. very nice, does it attach to a belt?
  12. 1967 R69S and it, as most beemers rode like a caddy, Smoooth....even off road hardly feel the bumps, seat actually is heavy rubber suspended on a steel rod frame, setup like a lever with a single spring underneath, very comfortable and flexes with you, I miscalcutated the time frame it was bout 2&1/2-3 years ago, rode it two summers then sold it. Still have best of show award from beemer club hanging on my wall. Wish I still had it.
  13. About a year and a half ago I rebuilt this bike (lotsa pics on myspace) I needed to recover the passenger seat which was a steel frame and spring suspension. I ended up refoaming and covering it with black kidskin. Also didn't have a fender that went low enough on the backside of the front wheel so I made a mud flap. Didn't turn out to bad and started me on the leatherworking adventure. Since sold and looking for another.
  14. I like it, could you show the strap and snap detail in another photo? I hear that they are mandatory for most police departments for safety? How did you cut the belt slots? It could be the photo or the fact that you are wearing it alot so they look a bit wide in the middle. I really have to concentrate when I cut mine I usually use a hole punch, a straight edge and a real sharp x-acto knife always have to remined myself to start cutting from the hole to halfway the point then turn the holster 180 and finish the. That way I don't cut all the way through a hole into the holster. Most of my slot punches are not quite the right size. You probably already read this method in a thread prior to the big crash of 08. Zippo case I made last year as an example. Keep up the good work I want to see more. Jordan
  15. I really hate when that happens, just to throw a little stress breaker atcha you could always trade your bike in for a smaller one it might fit then. I'm sorry just couldn't resist, I feel for ya.

    Fast Buckle

And that folks, is why this forum and the people on it ROCK!
  17. Looks real good to me, the only change I would make is the color of the thread I think a black or darker brown would look better, but what the heck do I know, still working on my own winning combo of looks and function, keep making leather stuff and of course post them photos so's we can borrow your ideas LOL. Jordan
  18. Finally got her to slow down enough to get a pic. This is washoe the 4th of our rescued dogs.
  19. I don't have the link but I made one with a cardboard box, duct tape and tissue paper, cut square holes in 3 sides, tape tissue over them, set box on 4th side cut off top and bottom flaps or leave um on if you want, don't cut out the bottom as it is now the back and needed for support, line inside with something to hide the ugly cardboard, set up some lights to shine thru the tissue use the side flaps to adjust shadows, put your item in the box and snap away. I am sure there are others, it was a long post with lots of ideas, and a link to a photog site that I got this idea from.
  20. How true, great country and would not want to live anywhere else. And as you say it could have been an urban myth I read it well over 10 years ago at a time in California that the state would not balance the budget and issued us workers IOU's for 3 months that no banks would cash. And that is not a myth I lived it, very hard to pay bills with an IOU. Probably some union recruiting tactic at the time the unions were hot and heavy infighting then too.
  21. Yup those leather slivers can be a son of a gun to remove! hehehe I have alot of stuff that would be considered non-traditional I just use what I think will work and if not I start over, have to admit I usually end up spending the $ eventually to get the right tool for the job.
  22. I found with watchbands I had to adjust my way of thinking and seeing, had to scale down everything. Small is a pain to handle but if a band is out of proportion it does'nt work very well especially the holes for the buckle tongue and where the watch attaches with spring bars. An example would be the tandy kits, they look absolutly huge to me.
  23. If looking for complete units tandy has them, not the greatest quality compared to making your own but will do in a pinch. about 8 bucks last time I bought one.
  24. Groovy man, had a jacket like that once. But my hair was alot longer back then.LOL
  25. Ummm.... here is a clue, most of the people in washington that were elected Buy the People were or still are Lawyers. The guy that pushes the button in the elevators for those fat cats is a civil servant and makes more per year than I ever have in any job. BTW before anyone takes offense I have worked worked state and local government jobs, public works and state hospitals most of my adult life. Wouldn't want those peoples representatives to have to lift a finger would we? Read that somewhere years ago thought it was pretty outrageous then and it still is now. Imagine $80,000.00 a year to push buttons for a living, and they wanted a raise! where do I sign up I still have one good arm. Oh wait, they need a greeter at wally world maybe I can do that and have their HR department teach me how to get food stamps and medicare/medicaid. Sorry to hijack but when I think taxes I just am overcome with the need to rant and rave a little.LOL...Jordan
