    Guitar Cover

I have a book about building acoustics and there is a section about sound vibration and such, apparently science has not quite figured out how guitars make thier sound as compared to a violin which has had years of study. I would imagine that leather would muffle the sound somewhat but most have piezo pickups nowadays and are amplified. It is very nice work and I may have to do the same to mine as the ding on the lower bout has now turned into a crack fron the bottom to the pickgaurd. I just don't have the 50 per inch to get it fixed anymore which is a shame I cringe everytime I look at it. Gibson Songwriter Deluxe 1600$ wall hanging now
  5. Hey if it was clean it wouldn't be a workshop would it!
  6. Didn't know if the pattern pics would help much but, thought I would post them to kinda show how I ended up with the piece of leather cut that way. A side note, my 1st one ended up an inch to short on the left side belt slot area so I had to re-work the pattern from the centerline to the left as looking at the picture. Guess the ruger was alot thicker than I realized and needed the extra inch just to get everything lined up after folding it over the pistol. Might be able to use the shorter one on another smaller pistol. Most of the leather I am using is scrap from the bin at the local tandy shop so my learning curve mistakes are not too costly. By the time I start using the real good stuff I hope to be alot better at avoiding errors. My wife calls them brain farts, I call them temporary lapses in spatial reality.LOL...Jordan
  7. Could be a new way to case leather and soothe my aches and pains at the same time, two birds with one hottub so to speak
  8. I'll give that a try and as a reward I will have to put in some extra time in the tub tonight!
  9. LOL, your mistakes look better than my sucesses.
  10. Pre-crash of 2008 there was a thread of photos of a bunch of workshop areas and as mine is still a work in progress I would like to see some more so I can incorporate some of ya'll's ideas into mine as I build it.
  11. Regis, thanks, the design probably came from a combo of pictures of other holsters in magazines and online, I usually just start by breaking out some graph paper and draw till I think it will look good and work. Boom, that is one area that I still need to figure out, the others I have made I usually endup trimming in the grip area for clearence I haven't quite worked out how to raise the butt in the design process, I imagine if I put alittle foward cant in it that would allow for it.
  12. These are the results of the last couple of days of playing with holster ideas. It will end up being for a Ruger P89 with a straight up cant, belt loop on the back and one on the tail, my hope is the rear slot will pull the grip in closer to the body to aid in conceal under a jacket. I haven't decided on tooling/sewing/braiding/color yet. I included some pics of the cardstock pattern also.
  13. Style, STYLE, we no need no stinkin style! LOL. Seriously though I have a style but haven't the faintest clue what it might be, perhaps artisticaly challenged or hodgepodge functionality. I was looking at a Norwiegen museum site the other day and saw a barrel seat that was carved with what looks to me like the sheridan style may have evolved from it, so maybe style is in a constant state of evolution and can't be pegged down.
  14. I have learned more on this forum about leather than from any other source. It is really great that a person can ask a question and get such detailed answers, from a membership that is more than happy to share their knowlege. I like the fact that if I want attempt an item I can find pics, ask some questions and just let the creative jucies fly, ain't leatherwork grand.
  15. Not sure on price but Paint Shop Pro (win) is a program I used alot and it does all kinds of stuff not just photos. Irfanview (win) is one of the greatest free programs out there for what it does, view resize etc. not much in custom retouching but does have alot of effects. it is quick and easy. Gimp (linux) is what I am trying now because it is free and I switched from Windows $$$ to Ubuntu Linux 0.00 about a year ago. Got to love the free stuff, had to comit to learning new ways but so far is worth the price (couple of books like Ubuntu for non-geeks)
  16. Very well done, I am currently working on one kinda like those for a Ruger P89 and will post it in a few days even if it turns out like crap.
  17. Kinda hard to see in the pic but I used the patterns available at tandy for motorcycle accessories and made them smaller to fit the bicycle. There is a set of saddlebags and a toolbag.
  18. bandaids or a sewing machine.hehehe
  19. The Rifleman had a big ol lever probly wooda took a half a hide to cover it, oh wait.... maybe that was the porno he did, LOL oh no it was the son that did that, dang now I'm all confused!
  20. That is going to be one heck of nice ride when it is done, the proportions are awsome. Looks like it will be a very stable platform for fun.
  21. Thanks for the link, I had read about that system but concrete takes alot of energy to mfg. compared to stuff like adobe or rammed earth. I recently got a dvd called building with awareness, is very informative and well done. Our move is aways off so there is lots of time for research, half the fun ya know.
  22. Yup, a couple of C clamps overnight, had alot of fun making the mould and the cases, not very efficient for production but came out pretty good for not really knowing if it would work, I have even sold a few.
  23. a couple of pics of what I did for mine, just thought you might like to see'um
  24. Originally from SoCal Pasadena/Altadena/Sierra Madre/Hacienda Heights/Covina. Moved to Utah about 11 years ago to get the kids out of the crime before they got to jr. high. Seems to have worked out pretty well for them, but now the wife and I are looking to move to Sonoita/Elgin area of Arizona we have made a 5 year plan and want to build a self sufficient solar powered strawbale house and be nice and warm for a change. The season changes are nice here but the old aching bones just can't deal anymore.
  25. Any progress on the old posts? I miss the plethera of great information, thanks again for all the hard work...Jordan
