Everyone has their way of doing things, so I will add my 2C. worth. I make motorcycle bags, cuffs etc. If there is one color near and dear to a bikers heart it is black. So needless to say I do lots of dying. I have tried most of the available dyes and some bleed more than others. The one I have fallen in love with is Eco-Flo professional waterstain. It gives me the best black to date, and if you can remember to buff when dry it does not bleed at all. I usually apply a liberal amount using a sponge, work it in well in a circular motion, let dry, BUFF to a soft shine. Then I take Bick 4 leather conditioner with a little of the same dye added to it, not too much but make the mix Black. Stir it together well, and add a coat of that to the leather, when dry BUFF to a shine, and add the finish of your choice. Because it is black I use Goof Proof finish. You get a nice deep, vivid black ,and it does not bleed. I make belt bags for the ladies with it, and they don't want to end up with leather dye on their jeans, believe me! Not to say others don't have better ideas, but FWIW that's mine. Good luck!

Hello everyone! I have noticed in a number of the online tutorials that a table top grid is used when laying out a pattern. Seems to be in 1 in. increments, and I think it would be great to have. The one in Richard Black's tutorials he evens cuts on it, so I don't know if it is under....What??? Glass........hardly.......Is it a composite surface? Anyone use something like this, or know what it is? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to slow down a little on selling them, until you have a better idea of what exactly you have. I understand no room, believe me, but it would be a real shame to sell em to first come, and then find out you had a real treasure, I personally think they are quite unique, and wish i had a find like that. Just sayin'.

There are lots of hammers and mallets out there, but I can see where a 9oz. might be a tad light, for rivets and such. I have a number of different ones on the bench, but my hand falls most often on a Barry King 16oz. maul. Well made, well priced, and it feels good in the hand. IMHO

Beyond words........absolutely beautiful! Very fine work indeed.

I almost forgot one of the most important things. Make sure you have sealed the leather properly to minimize sweat absorption, two or three applications of Resolene should do the trick, Before you line. Try to keep the sweat out of the leather, it will lead to mold anyway, and he is right it smells bad..Treat both sides of the band but be sure the inside next to the skin is done well.

First off, you have hit on many of the right ideas. Having the cuff not too tight is primary. It should give support but not hinder movement or cause discomfort in any way. Ventilation holes are a great idea, and a nice design incorporating vent holes and domed studs would be a way to go. If you use rivet back studs you will want to line the cuff any way to cut down on hair pulls, so maybe a fine terry lining would work. If he sweats that profusely I would stay away from felt backing, it wont hold up. I was thinking even a suede lining might help, and double loop top and bottom would allow for some air flow under the cuff. Play with it, you will solve it. Eccho

Yes the shipping to Canada was not bad at $15.00US. However, the cost from Canada to the US, is outrageous. I have my Paypal set up to add 40% of the purchase price to account for shipping and it is almost right on when shipping in country, in either case, as I live in each country 6 months of the year. But I shipped a 1.5 oz. package from Ontario Canada to California and standard mail was $13.60 and if I wanted it with a tracking number it would have been $26.10. In the US I can add tracking to any package for $1.50. And they wonder why Canada Post is going out of business. Sorry to hijack the thread........I get on a rant sometimes....I'm old :>)

Yes, I think maybe I will purchase the other two as well. Kind of burns me though that they can knock $60.00 off, just like that. It doesn't even say limited quantities.

I have the french skiver and just love the darn thing, but of course I paid full price for it. They are now on sale on line only for $19.99 compared a regular price of $79.99. Sounds like a good deal to me. IMHO

Hey everybody. I have a lot of call for round bags, for tools, essentials, or sometimes just for bling. Till now I have always used a simple whip stitch to put the end caps in. I do not have a machine, everything is by hand. Sometimes I use lace, sometime just heavy waxed nylon. I have never had a complaint, but | would still like to have another option to offer. So I am open to any and all opinions as I know there are many on this forum with far more experience than I. So lets hear some ideas.

I have had wonderful success with this product Tarrago Self Shine Color Dye 25ml. Double #1 WhiteIt is available through Amazon, and their claim is that you can dye black leather white with this product. I really like it ! It is not cheap, but it is good for small projects. It also will surprise you how little you use. You have to apply three to four coats but it does not stiffen the leather and looks great. IMHO

Two Lady Bags I Made Last Month
Eccho replied to olivier79's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
They are both beautiful bags. I especially like the saddle tan one. Only critique I would make is, had you burnished the edges of the straps, you would have had a home run. IMHO :>) -
Howdy from the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, welcome to the forum. Lots of knowledge available on here, and folks are real helpful, just ask.
