Ruberized epoxy????????
rdb replied to Rayban's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
IMHO: I have tried several products, but find them lacking. Larger repairs or ones in stress areas, simply do not work well. Smaller than a dime size, can work. -

That thin lettering is awesome. I would have mashed it up the first side of the first letter! That is definitely a new treatment in lacing I have not seen! Lots of exclamation points! What the hell is it?

Pretty funny tony! I just can't figger how you got off so cheap. Congrats to your first wearable.

How many leatherworkers are also musicians?

I have kept myself amused on my Gibson and other guitars for some 40 years, still can't play nothing, and still don't know what the strings are named.... As a matter of fact, The Gibson is at the Luthier shop right now for some minor fixes, and I am SOOOOOOO....missing it. I reach for it at night to get my head straight, and it ain't there...this is worse than than a divorce.... -
If I can help, let me know. Of course, you will try and hook up with me down here....

Thanx for the update Johanna. Damn the torpedos. Full Speed Ahead!!!...as long as you have 23 solid good verified backups, on tape, dvd, microfiche, and papyrus!!!!! Bear with me, I've been goofing off today, it's been a long two weeks. I even lost a sale today, because I told the guy I was goofing off today, and he didn't like it. Oh, well. So I first heard this guy the same day this was posted on You Tube, two years to the day. I was so struck, I featured him on the blog I had. It was the most hit video that I ever showed. Now maybe it might have been the crowd I gathered at the time, but just to share with you, here it is...The guy mispelt the title on this post, it's supposed to be "Grungy Guy", just ignore that. The lesson from this kind of talent, is to never judge a man by the way he looks.

Yep, Dancing with Matt has been fun but here's one for somebody we all know: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcgQ7T9DvVU I wish we could embed stuff....

EDIT: Links to XP and Powertoys no longer work, so disregard any links to these items. Other posts below still have useful information. For those of you with XP, the Powertoys Image Resizer tool was a "have to have" power tool. But now that Vista is out here, and 64bit OS, that tool no longer worked. This group has cloned the tool so now it works in our versions too. It's the simplest way to resize your pix for posting here. A right click to the menu, and choose resize...simple. http://phototoysclone.codeplex.com/Release...93#ReleaseFiles

I'm with Billy! Everyone on this board, from newbie to old and gnarly saddlers, inspire me. I don't need to go outside this board to see some of the greatest stuff that I ever saw. And then, to boot, everyone helps you to do better yourself. Well, that's just too much for this old senile man to fathom. Who the hell gives away trade secrets in this day and age.... From inspiring each other, to taking the newbs by the hand, damn. I continue to insist that this Forum is a once in a lifetime Historical event. To those of us old enough to know how hard it was to start decades ago, and to find material, and information, well, I for one, see just how radically important this place is. So here's to everyone on this board, and a big Thank You from me, for all the inspiration, and reminding me that humans ain't so bad, after all. Want to learn Bike Leather, just read Ian, David, and Roger, and ever other name in that section. Want to see carving. I'll show you carving...sheesh... ClayB, Hidepounder, CitizenKate, Yaklady, and every other name in that section. Want to pick up a few things about saddles...jumpin' sassafrass...every single name in that section is world class, or on his or her way. Gunleather and sheaths...criminy! Who the hell knew the best of the best would show here. I could go on and on with names, and there will be fourteen people after me naming their heros, and we still wouldn't be able to name them all. As for all the names of people off this board who inspire, it's only a matter of time before they come here and join...just wait!! Thanks Johanna!

Yep, that's how I do the copperheads around here....except not in the kitchen, do it outside! I haven't tanned any up in 35 years, but if there's a good crop this year, I just might. If you do, that would be a good second video. Nice job. Wanna bet, it tastes like chicken....

For all you Belt Makers
rdb replied to ABC3's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I do what Doug says, except for a few changes. I seal/top coat both sides before dyeing the edge, if you make an "oops", most times it comes right off off the sealer. And, I dye the edge of the main belt before gluing to the liner. There's rarely a need to edge dye the liner, by the time you slick down, wax, and seal the edges, it's blended in.
