  1. I'm trying to use super sheen to resist the antique gel in order to have the gel only (mostly) in the cuts and stamps. For some reason I'm getting the attached result. Steps I follow: One coat of super sheen and than antique gel. Issue obviously is - why am I getting this stained look (which I'm not after)?? Any help would be appreciated.
  2. Here is what it can be used for:
  3. Hi, I'm trying to use Eco weld (water based contact cement by Tandy) in order to replace tanner bond (contact cement by tandy as well). My past experience with water based contact cement is that it will be ok for applications not requiring too strong bond - like holding the pieces of leather before sweing. I never felt it's as strong as regular (non water based) contact cement. However - I'm getting sick from the smell of the normal contact cement. Any tips, tricks or ideas about this subject?
  4. If your dye is water based I'd use: Eco-Flo Professional Finish by tandy. Did many tests and it's as good as it gets. It works well on oil dyes as well but it's recommended for water based dyes only.
  5. Love the dye job. How did you make it happen? What's the secret recipe?
  6. I know that some stamps are done using a photoelectric process.
  7. This is really beautiful bag. Can you share some details about the leather (veg tanned ?) or on the way you dyed it ? From here it looks like veg tanned dyed and then used some sort of antique black gel ????
  8. In my taste you should add antique gel finish to it.
  9. You have several options: 1) did you try online ? Tandy leather or other leather working stores? 2) eBay - you never know what you'll find there. 3) custom made leather stamps - this will defiantly work but will cost you at least $50 per stamp.
  10. That's a good point. I guess I will do it now.
  11. Hi - I love this design. Can you please share your template for the bag ? If you can just take a picture of the cut template and the measurements- I promise to edit it in illustrator and share it with the rest of the forum members as a PDF.
  12. Looks very nice - but is it hard enough to be used as a tray? It does not bend ? How did you harden it ?
  13. Hi, I would like to get some feedback about my new wallet. It is really small in your pocket and it's made from chrome tan leather. I really liked the way it turned out. My only "miss are the stitches. I didn't use a tool wide enough for the needle to go through so I had to use my stitching awl.
  14. Love it. Looks great !!
  15. Nice work !!!
  16. I think it looks great. Especially for first holster. Very well done !!!
  17. Thank you very much for that tip !!! This effect is easy to you - but not to me. Anyway - it's great help to me !!!!!

  19. Hi, First-I love it - very nice. I would like to know how you did it ? (I am a newbie to leather works...)
  20. Hi all, I am a newbie in this forum as well as in leather works. I started leather working about a month ago as a project to make a knife sheath and drained into it. Now I am looking to make some custom made leather items like belts, dog collars passport and ipod/ipad covers. A bit about myself I immigrated to the US 10 years ago from Israel and now I am a US citizen. My day job is information technology - so if anybody needs tips there - I will glad to help.
