You did right with him. Her when complaing about price, I would have taken a knife and cut the leather off the horse and sent her out the door with cut up junk! Jim I have 2 of the motors Bob is telling you about. Would not go back to the motor and separate speed reducer. No holes to drill, cutting table for belt clearance. Can tilt the head without messing with the belt tension and just seams to work better or has more control. It will save you time, money, and headache.

Checked the tension disks they are ok, not enough thread run through to wear. It looks to be a bad spring on the bobbin case. Would not put pressure on 69 thread. Will get a new case. Where can I get a US made one for a Artisan 618? I gave the spring a bend and got more pressure. Still getting the high and low stitches in 4in straight runs. And with a 10 lb hammer you get more frustrations worked out.

When sewing leather or cloth about 80-90% of the stitches are either High or low about equal the rest look ok. Thickness doesn't seem to make much difference. Checked thread path not binding, changed needles, changed thread size and needle, fast or slow. Adjusted needle and hook no help. What could be causing this mess. About to fix with 10lb. hammer. I would be thankful of any ideas or suggestions Thank you in advance

Tandy has that one under #72015 in the 09 catalog. Looks the same as my 2015. Why or what caused it to go bad?

I use what dirtclod does, then I add to it a Mini-Techlite head light and magnification. Their is info on this on this net. Do search here to find more info.

This may help to break the rust. A pan of boiling water on stove, not up to the wood. hold in for 2 min or so to get the heat all through. Then dip into light oil or WD40 at room temp until tool is cool. Do this 3 to 6 times. This should suck the oil into bearing area and break up the rust. Some times works great, other times a wast of time.

Unbolt old, bolt up new. May have to change belt. Auto parts store for that.

I took the cover off (3 screws back of motor) and it is a set screw in the center of the only spring on the control lever. Do only 1 turn at a time, and feel the lever after each turn. Watch for the (pot) speed control wires, they unplug. Half the fun of buying something is opening it up and checking out the guts.

Just install one of the motors from Bob Kovar Toledo Industrial Sewing Machines 1 866 362 7397 It has more power than the servo and speed reducer I was using. Does not need help on 3 layers of 8oz now. The Singer gets it next. This motor bolts right in no holes to drill, can tip the head without taking belt off. Has a internal adjustable brake on it, which is nice for some things. A real savings over a servo and reducer. I think it is a very good buy. Thank you Bob

I had the same experience with Tandy Lace. One spool broke every few feet, all it would be good for is practice splicing. Next one had twists in it that would not come out, another for practice splicing. Next was as stiff as that near famous wedding night male thing, total junk. No more Tandy for me.

A patch for wet suit works well for this. Buy enough for 2 and you will not have to go back a 2nd time. Buy for only one and it seams something will go wrong. Any how that how it works for me.

Never did a ruby blade. I would use clear Gorilla Glue, or the Rear View Mirror glue from auto parts.
