    Storm, Another WINNER!!!!!!!!! Awesome!
  2. Spider, One day you are going to FREAK us all out by doing a Flower and butterfly pattern! Whenever we admire your stuff it's like taking a trip to the dark side. Love the wood effect!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Hey Bob, Alot of us get the tortoise shell effect when we don't want the tortoise shell effect! Like when we try to seal some colors that aren't compatible with our topcoat. When that happens we call it an "effect".
  4. Hey Storm! You are really kicking up a storm with your awesome projects! ok I guess you knew that was coming
  5. Hey Tom, I am just kicking it around a little here so bear with me... I have always found that many antique and current swords and bayonet scabbards are not of leather. I think this might have to do with moisture problems associated with leather. Most of my military bayonets have scabbards made of metal, or composite materials. Even my USMC NCO sword scabbard looks to only be leather wrapped. Samurai swords used wood scabbards (covered). I know your weapon had a leather scabbard and my guess it was probably molded in someway for rigidity and looks... Good luck in your quest! Here is a site on the net- http://www.jelldragon.com/scabbards.htm

Ammo! As for stupid questions... I have found that everytime someone asks what he/she thinks is a stupid question a ton of people always say "Yeah, I'd like to know the answer too!" This is a fun place to ask anything leather!

  17. John, Great Job! (The pic are good too) I really would have never noticed the background "walk" if you didn't mention it. Plus the whole reason curse words were invented were for moments just like that! John @ 11:31 pm last night- We've been there many times.
  18. Last week I posted a problem I had with a Tandy wallet not having enough lace... Well, I wrote to both my distributor and to Tandy HQ. My Distributor sent me a few feet of lace the next day. Then I received a response from Jim Villwock of Tandy- He said "I apologize for the fact of you coming up short in the lace of the wallet. There are several variables involved as to why, but the fact remains we just didn’t get enough lace in your wallet kit. I am sending you enough lace to re-lace the wallet. I could send you enough to finish the wallet, but I don’t want to take the chance that it doesn’t match." Now, to me customer service is everything, and again Tandy comes up number 1. Bravo Tandy!
  19. Myriam, Nice webpage! For the colors I used only Fieblings Alcohol dyes... The only acrylic white I added was for the tail and a spot on the eye. I did this because I figure the wallet will get alot of abuse in and out of the pants and I didn't want any color "rubbing off". After the dyes I used a few coats of rubbed in. We will see how this holds up. Sedgwick leather balm.
  20. Spider! Holy Cow! Give you the Blue Ribbon for Great EYES! Yes those are your "gals" poppin out of the folder! =) Love that piece! Thanks again!
  21. Just because some of you wanted to see it "done" =) My first lacing project and I dare say it could be addicting...
