  1. What leather are you using? I don't know much about carving. But I have read several times of hard spots in Tandy leather. And I have experienced it in cutting the Tandy stuff.
  2. That looks like a trip to Hobby Lobby or Michael's to me.
  3. If you are using fiebings spirit based dyed you need some drying time in there. I walk away from it for 24 hours then buff. I use Aussie for most of my stuff. But I haven't made and hard contact items.
  4. Ha! You guys rock!!
  5. I haven't gotten to use them yet. Odd thing 5 of them were leather and one was I think vinyl. It has a mesh on the back side. Sucks that it was the best looking color.
  6. Just a little test. They made nice looking slots. But I haven't gotten to sew anything yet.
  7. Ha, that's one way to do it. Kill 2 hobbies with one stone.
  8. It's nice as a hobbyist to get a peek into the production setting. It gave me some thoughts on repition even for a smaller scale.
  9. It looks plenty good to hang on a belt. Whether you used a bag punch or a knife for your slots, it needs to be sharper. Where did the knife come from? I have been searching for a roach belly for awhile.
  10. I would like to see an aerostitch clone.
  11. Thanks that was about all I could find on it too.
  12. Pretty enough. Something like this I wouldn't be too concerned about it being a little rough. A rustic period piece should be rustic.
  13. From what little I can find on the Seiko it is a high arm version with 15mm knee lift and uses #8 thread. If that is the metric measurement then it would be 346 from what I am finding. So I guess it would be a much heavier stitcher than the 206.
  14. The auction says Seiko llw 8blcs.
  15. I really enjoy your stuff.
  16. If you go into a Tandy location, know what you want when you get there. Otherwise you will be pointed towards lots of stuff you don't need. Everything in a Tandy store is grossly overpriced and mostly poor quality. They feed off of newbies. I have a large Tandy right down the street. I never buy their leather or tools any more. Maybe a river setter or the like, but that's about it. I only go in these days to peruse their clearance aisle for deals on hardware. That is the only time their stuff is reasonable. Don't get me wrong, they have a few things in there I think are quality, but the prices on that stuff is astronomical.
  17. Three years ago at the tender age of 40 I still couldn't sharpen a pocket knife when I dove into leather. Learning to sharpen things makes life easier.
