  1. Thanks for the responce, one more ? for ya. What type of finish do you do on it? Since it is latigo do you jsut give it a coat of oil and call it good or do you try to seal it with something. The leather you used looks really good.
  2. Thanks Dave, yep thats the one I was thinking of. As far as where to get printed leather just about everyplace that sells leather has some offerings for the most part. I still gotta try some of ostrichmarket stuff one of these days. Maybe after christmas.
  3. I know of one person that used a mules foot style stamp and made a snake skin that looked really good. Somewhere in the section here, it was a knife sheath. You can also get imprinted cowhide that looks pretty good and is relativley cheap compared to exotics.
  4. Very nice looking bag. I really like that style. THe leather used, what kind is it veg tan or some type of latigo or chrome leather. Its very nice looking.

    Stamp Rack

Very cool man, thats a good idea.
  6. Im way up in Bremerton, not to far but still a clip away. I think with the gas mileage my truck gets it would be cheaper to cover the shipping cost. If you feel like making a extra one I would be more then happy to cover shipping and some extra for your efforts materials.
  7. You know that is really cool. Would be able to get much larger stuff in there and stitch longer without repositioning. I would probably take it if I wasnt still in my darn apartment. I pretty much do all my work on what should be the kitchen table. Got a little while before well be done with the girlfriends house where Ill get to setup atleast a little workarea devoted to the leather craft. Thanks
  8. Just so ya know Tandy is having the Al Stohlman brand round knife on sale I think this week or very soon. Something like $29 or such. I think they are decent knifes.
  9. I agree with the others very good job. Very nice
  10. Thanks for the input guys. I think that I have it worked out enough now that I may do a couple more, one for myself and a couple for some guys at work.
  11. Hey guys I thought the idea of the Tandy light and mutlitool was kind of cool so I made this which is kind of a spin off of that. Its for christmas and is going to be sent with a gerber tool similer to the one in it as a present. I put the initials on there but didnt want a whole bunch of stuff so just carved them in and called it good. Took a couple before the DIP then dunked it in vinagaroon. I still gotta get it oiled and put a coat or two of snowseal on it. This was actually my second attempt at this one but Im pretty satisfied with it. Maybe change a few minor things next time. As allways up for any suggestions or critique.
  12. I really like this one. Very very cool. I think this is probably my favorite one youve done so far.
  13. Hey guys just wanted some info as far as leather workers go to what you all think of water buffalo hide. When I was younger I had a jacket made form the stuff and it was strong as all heck, much stronger then any jacket Ive gotten since made of leather. It looked very good too, was a brendle color. Now I have also heard that it is not desirable to use water buffalo hide for projects. What is your alls take on this. Thanks
  14. Very nice. Good choice with the little white/tan? strips, a very nice little addition of some lighter colors. Good job.
  15. Thanks for all the input guys. Very much appreciated. It looks like since I spent too much money at tandy that Ill maybe have to try building one and just live with any of my wood working downfalls.
  16. Hey guys/gals Ive been looking around for a preassembled or mostly there of stitching horse. Ive only found one the one on ebay, seems ok but at a pretty hefty price. Not sure if thats a fair price or not (could be I dont know). Does anyone know of anyone else that makes or sells them. Yes Ive found plans and such for them however I must admit I am not that great at working with wood and am sure if I made it I would be rocking back and forth as I sewed stuff up. Thanks for any input.
  17. Hey wanna say thanks again for the tutorials that you have written. Those are really good with great pics. Very useful info. We should try to get them stickied or a link to them somewhere on the forum.

Hey Tom as others have mentioned it is a really good idea to clean the little buggers out. I havnt messed with lappy's very much but did take a couple of friends lappys apart and they were horribly full of dust and dirt and what not. The thing with lappys is they have some really small screws but anyone with enough patience to work with leather can tackle it relatively easy.
  19. I would like to add that some of the sealers like supersheen and others depending on how applied will get cracky and brittle looking after use where they are flexed alot.
  20. LOL well he has the radio behind the splitter under the buckle rack but your right no coffee pot and no laptop, I would have to have a shop lappy in there somewhere so when I needed too I could hop on the ol internet and figure out how to do something I wasnt sure of ofcourse not like he needs any help with anything from the looks of it. Outstanding looking shop and very well layed out and organized. I like. Makes me kind of jealouse. Enjoy it as much as you can.
  21. Thats great. Welcome to the thing that will eat up alot more money and time then you thought possible. You faired far better then I did on my first shopping spree at tandy. I picked up way to much stuff today at the tacoma one. Also got a couple of those 3/4oz tooling sides. They werent too bad. Seem to be pretty clean for the craftsman selection, Wanted to add that they had a decent amount of the saddle sides or whatever they are for $87 I think it was. Something like 45% off so it was a pretty good deal I just didnt have any more money lol.
  22. Very very nice looking, I like all of them very much, not sure which one I like the best, probably the first and second one but they are all really nice. Looks like you did a outstanding job on them.
  23. It was actually OX blood I believe, the feibings dye. Thanks, I made a second one that turned out a little better but screwed up on something (cant remember what lol) and it went into the bin, I was really bummed. Ahh well. These little coin purses are pretty cool and theres so many different ways of doing it.
