  1. Get your self one of these http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/home/de...ture=Product_10 Also check out his picks in this thread. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4416
  2. Did you oil it again? Thats the big issue with this stuff is that depending on the leather it varies how well it takes. I have had some stuff that works like a charm, and other stuff no matter what I do and it is bluish.
  3. I like to tool, dye, oil with neatsfoot. Then I generally use leather balm with atom wax. After thats all done I get a good coat of sno-seal. I really like sno-sea, it works very well. You gotta reaplly it occasionally but it keeps the water out. Aussie wax works as well but I think sno-seal works a little better and last a tad longer. Bees natural is suppose to work real good also but havnt tried that yet.
  4. Well dont know how to edit the first post, wanted to change the title to windsheild bag finished but oh well. Anyways got her done, fingers are sore lol. I need a sewing machine. The mounting portion is a piece of aluminum that was cut bent and drilled to follow the contour of the windshield. I covered it with leather and included to strap guides I guess you could call them. This allowed the bag to retain the standard fork mounting setup but be attached to the windshield. The strap is a little long but allows for diversity in set up so he can mount it somewhere else if he decides to. Most of the black is vinegaroon. Had to touch up the black for the edges and where I tooled becuase there the vinee couldnt soak thru all the way. The inside lining came out a nice grey color so I chose to leave it as is. Made for a nice contrast between the dark black of the outside and the inside. Looks good in person. Enjoy. Was playing with camera so got alot of pics lol,
  5. Not sure but I have been using denatured alcohol that I got at lowes with my feibings dyes (the non oil dyes) and I mixed some with the angelus dyes and it worked well from what I can tell. I dont know if anything works better then denatured alcohol but Ill give anything else a shot its just this stuff is cheap.
  6. I have a small batch that I mixed oil and antique up in. Its what I primarily use. Not sure if its the correct way to do it but I get good results. The key is experiment. See if you like how it works out. I found I could control the antique a little easier when it was mixed with oil. On the dyes I tried with my feibings dye and it did not mix with the neats foot oil.
  7. I would go to Joanns or similer to look for the bees wax, you can get a good sized brick for that price (about 5 times as much wax). Shop around the other leather supply places for some better deals.
  8. Yeah that is very nicely done.
  9. Beginner lol, I would love to see your defintion of advanced. Great job all your stuff looks very good.
  10. Cool setup. That is one thick edge. Agreed on the cool stitching idea.
  11. Yeah yesterday was a schorcher for this part of the woods. Im down here in WA and it got about 93f or so, not use to that lol.
  12. Very cool, good job. I really like all your journals. Did you make those knives yourself. They look really cool and very useful.
  13. My most stolen item (LMAO) must be the ones out front. Looks good over all simple but well made.
  14. I like it, I think more then anything its the color that makes it look native american, if it was a darker brown it may have a different style to it.
  15. Thats a darn good idea McJeep. Thanks And thanks Ian and Tim, he seemed to like the pictures of it so far so hopefully Ill get it all put together this week.
  16. I finally got around to ordering some of these angelus dyes and must say moving from the regular feibings dye to this is a step in the right direction. I cant compare to the oil dye from feibing as I havnt tried those but must say these angelus dyes are very nice. Tried the black and was amazed how easily it buffed out and seemed not to come off when wiped.
  17. Thanks for asking Kenny, I wont probably ever do one of these but allways wondered how they were done. This has been a interesting topic.
  18. Lets just say I broke it up into two days of tooling. I think I need to widen my grips on my tools. My big hands dont like gripping those little stamp handles.
  19. Yeah roper and biker is pretty much the same as far as wallets just depends on who wears it I guess. I linked to a page that after I had done a search on the site. If ya go to the home page and do a search for wallets then they will pop up.
  20. Could try one of these http://www.hitchingpostsupply.com/search.asp?mode=results Everyone seems to like these liners, Im gonna get a couple to try out. Im no fan of trying to do the wallet interiors
  21. Hey guys been working on a windshield bag for a guy at work thats gonna go on his roadking. Ill get the rest of the pics should be done today or tomorrow. Basically used the pattern pack for the fork bag but we made a bracket and Im covering that with leather. Its gonna be black so figured I would post a couple of shots of the tooling. I was happy with the basketweave but the screws I could of done better on I think. The dolphins were ok. Oh and for anyone that doesnt know the dolphins are what submariners get when they are finished with there qualifications. Most countries have some semplence of them for there submarine fleet.
