  1. All around good job! I liked the fabric lined one. Thanks for sharing how that was put together. Oh - and thanks for the file cabinet warning. Crystal

    a mandella

I think you need to sharpen up that swivel knife and get back to tooling, BB. Nice work! Crystal
  3. Beautiful job, Kiwi! Can't wait to see some more! Crystal
  4. I've never been accused of having any original thoughts - so I will steal carry on rdb's $25.00 contribution match. Next $25.00 donated gets a matching donation from me. Crystal
  5. Hey! I like those! That rose came out really nice. Crystal
  6. I just have to get time to get to a post office! Mike- are all the pictures to be posted on this thread or will you set up another? Crystal
  7. I was sooo sure that the "C" was for Crystal. And being a water sign, the mermaid was a perfect fit. Oh well. It still looks great even if it isn't for me. Since you are doing 40,000 of them, maybe one with the right name can get slipped in that order somewhere. Crystal
  8. Beautiful, Tina! I liked the surprise on the bottom. Great addition! Also like the two tone on the straps and the bottom. I am also puzzled as to why my saddle stitch doesn't look the same front and back. Same holes, same direction with the threads, same tension... Why does the front look different from the back? No one will notice after seeing Mr. Rattler on the bottom! Crystal
  9. I have to give your girl an A+ on originality. I think dad should make her a checkbook cover just like her juice box one, only out of leather. If it looks like she is carting a feedbag around - that's probably her purse. Poor kid. Crystal
  10. Another beautiful piece, Tina! I can appreciate the thought that went into the design. Bravo! Crystal
  11. Nicely done, David. I think they sent their custom order to the right place, I don't know anyone else that can take lots of words and turn it into cool art. Crystal
  12. Thanks for the offer to help, I appreciate it! Right now he wants to work on a holster - so we will see how that goes first. I think we got some of your cold - thanks for sending that East. You may get dry this summer, so I will pass on your offer of sending snow. I am not sure I would be allowed to be near any firearms at all - cabin'd in with 50+ inches of snow, unplowed roads... I think our place would turn into something akin to "The Shining". Stay warm! Crystal
  13. Ian - I totally get that! Nothing better than new socks. Some people want to win the lottery and buy big houses and jewelry - I'd never wear the same pair of socks twice. Crystal
  14. Beautiful, Tina! Love the incorporation of the constellations! Very cool. Crystal
  15. Beautiful job, Hedge and Myriam! The hubby was peeking over my shoulder when I first looked at this - and now he wants one. (I must put a bell on him so he can't sneak up like that. ) He likes everthing on the utlitarian side with little decoration to it, but he really liked the braiding, as do I. I have used the Fiebings Chocolate and have gotten good results, although there is a definite cherry undertone to it. I just played with some Fiebings Walnut Stain and that is a dark chocolate color with more of a tan undertone to it. Don't know if that is what you are looking for. Let's see some more! Crystal
  16. Try checking out this site: http://www.brettunsvillage.com/leather/ They have a listing where you can contact them if you are looking for a single piece of leather. Crystal

    A few recent bits

Hey - that is one cool dragon! Excellent job. Crystal
  19. Hi Shorts - Kate posted this earlier. Don't know if this is what you are looking for. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=6380 Crystal
  20. Troy - Thanks for taking the time to post this. Can't say I have ever seen an ostrich saddle with diamond studded conchos before. Beautiful! Have to also say the story is as good as the conchos and plates! Crystal

    Tiny feathers

Tom those came out great! Now I see why you needed some ?pincets?. :-) They are really tiny. I will put them on my list to try as soon as I get some other things off the bench! Crystal
  22. This is the thread where the brown dye is mentioned. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?s...amp;#entry77291 For some reason I am not sure just adding black will work. Give it a try though. Let us know how that turns out! I just had an interesting go with Tan gel antique. I put probably 4 coats of resist on top of white and I still ended up with yellow.... :-) Isn't this fun?? Crystal
  23. How about working backwards? Maybe try resist and remove. I look at that and it looks like the high parts of the design are worn or rubbed. Try the antique and then go over with a deglazer or something like that. If you want to hit just the high parts of the design, back your deglazer rag with a sanding block or something with a flat surface and rub over. That would keep the remover out of the recessed parts of the design. I've also noticed the red tone to most browns. I did a little experiement one time and was able to cut the red tone in brown dye by adding blue dye. Not too much or you end up with purple. :-) Somewhere here, at some time, someone mentioned a brown dye that was a true brown without the red tones...I just can't remember who, where or when. Just some thoughts- Crystal
