I use an office foot rest from Amazon. It sits about 5 or so inches high, and can be adjusted lower if necessary, would the be any help? Cheap too. Looking at your links, my suggestion might be too low for you.

The knowledge on this forum, never fails to amaze me.

Could someone have made it as a one off, just to suit their needs for a job they were doing. If so, you might never know what it was used for.

Using the same stamp for both isn’t a problem. I’ve even rigged up a plate to use a standard non shaft stamp with a hot foil machine. Works fine to run off a reasonable number of key fobs when needed.

A question for the 3D printer people

I’d agree, sounds the simplest method. -
A question for the 3D printer people
LumpenDoodle2 replied to fredk's topic in 3D Printers and Lasers
That might prove difficult to do directly on the printer, I think it would be more trouble than it was worth. I’d think printing out a concho, then maybe using 3D filament pen to secure the chicago screw would be simpler. Even incorporating filament Chicago screw type fitting into the design might have durability problems. There again, I still only use pla, and the filament world has moved on faster than my knowledge level. -

Nice clean stitching, there. -
You intrigue us, what cunning plan are you hatching.

Thank you, but I hide my mistakes well. I’m planning a bit experimenting with the shape of the body, and maybe turn a few brass ones. Aluminium is easy to turn and get a good finish on a mini lathe, compared to working with steel, now that takes a bit more work, and can be a pain to get to look good.

Did someone not ask about this on here a few years ago? I have a vague memory of that, and I’m sure the answer was no.

Many thanks, I shall give that a go.

Nice bit of shading on the flowers. -
I think it looks fine, but IMHO aluminium is nice and light in the hand. I also have a mini lathe, but have not made a complete knife myself yet. Having small hands, and the start of arthritis in a couple of fingers, I experimented with turning a wider barrel, then refitting the finger crescent bit. Mine is made of aluminium, and I think the knurling came out not too bad for an amateur. How did you put together the swivel part, I’ve not quite worked out the design for my next complete knife. Excuse my tappy hammer.

Stitching Hole Punch???? Anybody use this tool??
LumpenDoodle2 replied to Somiskid's topic in Leather Tools
I’d agree with that, and do prefer buy from a UK depot, even if it is really coming from overseas, it just feels a bit safer, and usually very reliable. I can’t really complain too loudly though, after all, a delay is hardly the end of the world. -

Ebay is filled with them from HongKong, and China, which I’m sure no one here objects to buying from, and as long as you are willing to take the chance on facing a delay in delivery, then you have your source. I’ve had mixed result with the time taken for deliveries of lathe tools from China. Not that I’m trying to put anyone off. I think certainly the poor Royal Mail are trying to concentrate on more domestic deliveries, which is understandable. -

Leather damage, i wish someone told me that before..
LumpenDoodle2 replied to NMendes's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Any material that has a ‘surface’, applied will be iffy, and potentially unstable. Whether that’s leather or pvc under it. Or at least the stuff I have had is. Someone may be along in a minute with better help. -
Solent! That was the other place! well remembered.

I hate to use the name ‘ebay’, but last year I bought several pirns of thread off a UK seller. They were an upholstery supplier, but unless I can remember the hubby’s account password, I am of no further help. But upholsterer websites might be worth checking out if any still available.
