  1. It takes up to 22 size needle. 10 oz leather is too thick I am afraid. As to the servo, can you post a picture of the control panel so that the members would know what beast you are dealing with?
  2. Planning to make a leather jacket for my son and having a hard time finding a fitting pattern. Already perused a couple decades worth of Burda magazine and tried a couple of patterns from them in fabric, but they do not fit too well and most need to be enlarged, which is difficult for me. Does anyone have any pointers to the good jacket patterns? Nothing too fancy, probably top 1/3 hip long, rather classic than extraordinary style. Thank you!
  3. I thought I knew 55x series pretty well after getting 553 and researching the product line, but I cannot recall seing a walking foot machine in the series. So it is unlikely that he got the the model number correctly. The modern equivalents of 55x series are 55x0 series, and there are 5550 and 54x0 now, so the closest to what he suggested may be 54x
  4. I was going to make something very similar to replace a nylon bag I keep tools in the car, so this is a great inspiration, thank you for sharing!
  5. Mine threads the same as in the modern manual on Pfaff's web site.
  6. Caro, Do you just want the manual for a reference, or you have a specific issue you need help with? I have the exact same machine and if the local gurus won't answer it right away, I can help with the measurements or pictures from mine.
  7. You might have more success here if you'd post pictures showing sizes and styles. I may be interested too but I need to see what is offered.
  8. I recently deconstructed a similar tote bag and looked at the cords in the handles too. They are a pretty soft cable, similar to the nylon cables sold at the hardware stores, with braided shell and straight fiber core.
  9. Yeah, your design places the guide where I would ideally want it. Thanks for sharing!
  10. And that's exactly what I meant by overkill - it's CDN$80 plus $10-20 more in shipping, while what I am using costs next to nothing.
  11. Does anyone have/use a special edge guide for Pfaff 335 or similar cylinder bed machines? I know there are swing out guides for sale, but that sounds like overkill and they cost too much. Right now I am using a household machine's edge guide with the screws I made and it seems to do the job. If there was a guide that sat further out to the back of the arm, it would be a better fit as that would give more space in front of the feet to feed material in.
  12. Now this is a very well designed and implemented holster! Love it.

What sort of leather weight are you talking about?
  14. From what I saw when deconstructing industrial made leather goods, there can be quite a big difference in thread size.
  15. Is it just me, or the hole in the new feed dog looks almost 2x times smaller in proportion to the dog width?
  16. Fraser, Your feed dog does not look right to my uneducated eyes. Did anyone try to increase the size of needle hole to use the larger needles? I never had issues with bottom leather marking and my feed dog in Pfaff 335 looks way smaller. Only size 22 needle with size 90 thread would pass freely. Tried size 24 needle with 415 thread and it would not pass through, which is correct.
  17. There is manufacturer's email address at the end of the instruction manual: http://www.supsew.com/KnowledgeBaseArtefacts/Documents/Highlead/GC22618%20instruction%20manual%20&%20parts%20catalog.pdf They should be able to answer your question.
  18. Very nice wallet and I am only saying that because I am not a fan of the tote concept altogether.
  19. I routinely fix several year old electronics with dried up/popped capacitors using the donors from the old motherboards and it costs me 1 penny in solder/flux plus another penny in electricity. But everyone's mileage may vary. I also routinely fix the cold joints, except for the BGA chips that need special equipment. With BGA technology the industry found a way to make repair cost exorbitant, true. But if one invests in a reballing machine than it becomes quite economical to fix even the video cards and motherboards. Sometimes it is cheaper than buying a replacement video card. Throwing away 20 lb of perfectly good motor and controller just because a capacitor dried up is wasteful. Itch's motor's symptoms are exactly those of a power supply with a dried up capacitor.
