  1. I don't know if you knew, but you posted this on an existing thread. You might want to go to the LW forum page and skip down to the "how to forum" and post your question. You might get a quicker hit.
  2. Eco-Flo for me has been a learning experience, but her is what I do/learned with this product. It is not fully tested and continue to learn, but I have yet to have any dye come off like others have reported here. Carve/background ~ Allow to dry After allowing it to dry, I will determine the dye color. If I am doing a belt, I will do the following. In preparing the leather to dye, I will lightly wet the leather and dye it with Eco-Flo Dye and allow to dry over night. The next day or two if I have to corral the children, I will use an Eco-Flo antique as a final coat to fill up any empty or partially filled cells that were not covered in the initial dying process. I will allow it to dry another day or two. After buffing, I will use either Satin Sheen or RTC as a sealer and buff. Now, if the belt appears to be a little stiff, I will turn it over and rub in some neatsfoot oil and allow it to soak in and dry overnight. The next day, you should be able to feel the flexiability in the belt as you manipulate it. You can also rub down the grain down, if you are not going to line the belt. Any other leather project or the use of another dye product, I will interject the following after carving the leather. **If Tandy leather is used, I will use Neatfoot oil as my next step; it provides a slightly darker shade after application/drying. **With my current leather (Hermann Oak), I will use EVOO (extra virgin olive oil); no significant change in color. I hope I didn't confuse you.

Just Beautiful! I guess now you can add 'lamp maker' to your collection of accomplishments. I just found this month's background photograph for my work computer. Job well done....Bow to the master!!
  8. Anytime. I was kidding about the kids. Just drop me a line if you change your mind. Good luck.
  9. I know that two members here have some good deals on the Boss machine with plenty of accessories. TroyS was one of them and the other one's name slips me, but they are out of San Antonio? Good luck.

  12. Contact Ron at Hide Crafter, he has a good relationship with Kyoshin Elle in Japan. Unfortunately, I have tried to purchase some unique leatherworking items that I have found on the internet. They want you to buy 5 of each and charge $20 dollars for shipping period. It just hasn't become a priority for me right now. Good luck
  13. Thanks Johanna....I didn't even think about Mr. Burnett's online shop. Good one.
  14. John PM Allan at ALS Leather. He has some RBS and other tools for sale. I have purchased some magazines from him and he is great to work with. He has a list of tools up for sale. I do doubt that there are any Don King stamps or the saddle stamps. I do have to say with sadness for you that I just sold an entire (unused/first run) set of saddle stamps, which contained what you were looking for. These were one of the sets off the Craftool bench when they were in Fort Worth. I am sure the new owner will love the new collection, but he should read this and may contact you if he is interested. I did email you with information on the never used or published set of a special 'Dick Giehl' creative stamping set (chrome) steel stamps with unopened instruction manual that also came from Craftool. From my understanding, it was in the R&D process, but never saw the market. Some of the stamps were put out under the 'figure carving' group, but some I have never seen. The shaft do not even have numbers on them. For a collector, I am sure they would be a valuable collection. Good luck.
  15. I have craftaids and doodle pages that I would get rid of. let me get a list together and I will let you know. I will also have books full of patterns coming up for sale. These are all second copies and I have no need for them. again, let me get a list up. Send me a PM with your email address and I will forward them to you.
  16. Chuck: If you get a chance, I would suggest you email Chan Geer, George Hurst or even Chuck Smith. I have heard in the past that they have all done long distance tutoring and instruction, as well as, evaluation of work of students. I know of one of the above persons did not charge for another person to spend a week with him. I wish you luck.
  17. Damon: I am about 1 hour north of you in Austin. You have three Tandy stores, but I have no clue about gatherings. I can tell you that at the central Austin Store, the OFC gathers on Saturday morning to B/S, talk leather, make something and eventually get some lunch before breaking up after 1pm. You are more than welcome to join us. Occasionally, the OFC will gather on holidays like tomorrow, but I have been under the weather so I haven't been in the loop to know. Anyways, check out our leather guild website to see what classes our manager/partner is offerring for free on Saturday mornings. If you can tolerate two children, you are more than welcome to come over for a home cooked meal here on a weekend. If they get on your last note, I can always lock them in the closet. Seriously, you can always check out some pretty good saddle/leather/boot makers in surrounding SA area.
  18. I appreciate your patience on the check for the videos. My pleasure to return the favor. In the tube and at the post office.
  19. I seemed to be against the norm, but I use a 12 oz to 16oz for tooling leather. I agree with ClayB about when to do the background though I have to say that I have waited until the next day to background with a A104. I am always testing different techniques and I have to say that you can always background as long as you are on the dryer side. As for basketweaving, try out different weights if you have a chance. I use a heavier weight for my basket tooling because I like the feel. I have used up to a 2lb. What ever you chose just make sure it works for you. Good luck.
  20. Like my second part said quite clearly...if you do not find anything, by all means ask. Thanks for participating.
  21. I have some in the length you need.....i think.....you can have it...i have your addy already...i will send it in a tube.
