  1. BillW I am willing to sell you the 'Scrap book' if you are interested. I am looking to unload some books to make room for my next leather venture. Send me a PM and we can talk. Any price we come up with will include shipping to you within the US. Later.
  2. This is not floral carving, but leather related. I am doing using other patterns for my business card backgrounds. I would like to take a briefcase picture that I made last year and use it as a background on my new business cards since I am out. I want to do something Dave Theobolt (member on her) but I would like to lighten or make the photograph a little transparent or faded? If that make sense? This way the contact information will stand out? Can you help with 6 clicks or less? Just kidding, just how to would be great. I tried and got tired of messing with it. Appreciate you!
  3. I had that happened to me on the last portfolio I did. It sucks! Especially, when you see other people work on here and the lettering comes out cool looking. Either way, you rocked on the pattern. You are coming along!! Keep it up man!
  4. I have duplicate Doodle pages in Sets of 7 for sale. I have 3 sets available. Send me PM if you are interested. Shipping will be included to anyone within the US. For all others, we'll work something out. Here is a general picture of all three sets undivided.

  9. You have several options. Try one of our members here by the name of Brenda...her site is www.lasergiftcreations.com. She laser cuts on Delrin and charges $35 plus shipping. no charge for the design art. Good luck.
  10. We have a full library of books, DVDs and patterns for use by all guild membes. It is our library/netflix type operation. I will post some of my practice swivel knife pieces that I use as tap offs when I practice. Good luck.
  11. I appreciate all the comments. The clutch purse is an old Al Stohlman pattern, the checkbook came out of an issue or LCSJ mag and the business card case is actually a Tandy leather craftaid. Yea, I thought the same thing when I saw it. I learned early on that I cannot build a decent interior like Big Papa Leather, so when I saw an interior that Hidepounder used a Chaylor Fennell on a ring binder, I called and purchased 5 of these clutch purses in different colors. I also bought a half a dozen of business card case interior from Chaylor-Fennell. I am getting ready to call Kevin (was waiting until he finalized his agreement) to look at a purse interior and 3 ring binder/portfolio interior. It cuts down so muc work and looks better than any thing I could think of building. I look at it this way, let for me to screw up especially with my lacking finishing techniques. Let me know if anyone would like to make a clutch purse.....I can help you form all of my errors learned/experienced. Later.
  12. 1 & 2 is pending sale #3 is sold #4 is pending Thanks guys & gal!! Remember: shipping is included in the price.
  13. Thanks TimK.....awesome and simple tutorial. Please do not think I am trying to 'steal' your thread, but add to it. But I agree, it takes some time to get it right. Dave S in Fort Worth taught me a simple or idiot proof way to get the angle right. It has worked for me up to date. The biggest concern is that not all stamp are the same, totally agree. So this is what I have done to my tools and how I keep it simple. The way I was taught. Note: I know people will shake their heads and disagree with me; and that is okay, really! But I remember a teacher who told me many years ago to K.I.S.S (keep it simple stupid) when it comes to learning something. Why make it difficult if there is a simplier way to learn it and do it. Oh, by the way, I am not saying anyone on this thread or forum is stupid. I carry that title myself with honor. For every basket tool that I own, I took the wife's red nail polish and placed a dot on one side of my basket tool. Usually, the right side up. I draw a faint line (as light as possible) where I am going to start. I use my basket tool and cut it in half trying to place have of the tool on the right and left side of the line. When I determine the center (BTW, it can be done when you mark it with nail polish, hint, hint), I make a light mark using the tip (end) of the basket on each side of the center line. This should give you the marker where you will place the inner leg of the basket tool and the center line will be the other marker for the opposite leg. Do the same thing on the opposite side. Now, when you get to the top (or the bottom) depending which way to like to tool (I know people will disagree with me here as well). Do the same thing before you start the next row. using the line of leg left by the path of the last row and opposite of that center line. When you complete that line, do the same when you come back or go forward, either way. A quick note on tool. Keep notice on the marker you placed on the tool. Try to keep it going in the same direction every time. Especially, with Barry King baskets, which some have definate directions. Good luck
  14. The clutch purse was for a family friend after she saw my wife's purse. The finish is Neatsfoot oil and Neat-Lac. My wife pimped me out and I had to make this one. When I completed it, the wife sent me a bill for agent fees. What? The checkbook and Business card case were 'testing' projects for finishes. It is a saddle tan gel antique. I will complete the interior. I haven't decided whether I will sew it or lace it. Thanks for the opportunity to show them off.
  15. Here I have craftaids for sale. I have taken the liberty to pay my young son a nickle to choose and group these together. If you are interested in a particular photograph, you will get what is listed in the photograph. If you are interest, PM here; the price will include shipping within the US. If anyone is interested outside of the US; we'll figure something out. Good evening.
  16. The following books are for sale. These are doubles and in several titles are my triples. Even though they look new, I am going to say they are used, period. I saw two books that have a crease or tear that is significant to identify. I decided to post pictures instead of titles & information. What you see is what you get. If you find something you are interested in, please PM here. The cost requested will include shipping within the US. If you are outside of the US; we can work out something. Thanks. Some more books. another round.
  17. Welcome to the Forum RobertRock! Tim is right, coming on down to the Tandy Leather Store the first wednesday at 7pm to join our guild. The Longhorn Trail Leather Guild meets once a month. Our membership fees are $15 a year and we offer a project at every meeting. No extra cost, just make sure you attend. Or You can call Dennis and sign up for the Western Floral Carving class that we conduct on the second Saturday of each month from 10am to 3pm. The cost is $25 and everything is provided for you. You are given a handout, practice pattern, and a completed project. Nothing more to buy for this class. Not to say that you will not shop while you are there, but at least for the class, you will not need anything else. Or You can come by on the other Saturdays and meet with our OFC (guild) members. We are usually doing a project or practicing something related to leather. Oh yea, we have tons of jokes and we are usally laughing so hard that the manager has to tell us several times to keep it quiet back there. Either way, welcome back to the craft and you have plenty of people that are willing to help.

  21. RTC - Sheridan Resist & Finish - Brand New Product! The only leather finish you will ever need! Sheridan Resist & Finish is a superior, easy to use finish for all top grain leather. RTC gives superior resistance and top gloss for maximum contrast when antiquing or staining leather. This is a safe non-toxic, non-hazardous, odor-free, gloss finish that doesn’t peel or crack. It can be used over antiques, dyes and acrylics and allows you to oil over it so the leather still breaths. This one product can be used as both a resist and top coat when antiquing leather. Three sizes available. This product has been a hit with our customers. Here is what some of them have written. Chan Geer’s Custom Leather: "This is a great new finish. RTC makes antiquing easy and looks great. I find it dries fast so it saves me time and I really appreciate that it has no odor." Bill Gomer Saddle School: "I just can’t say enough about this wonderful product. It is everything you need in a finish. This is the easiest finish I have ever used. I have applied it with a cloth, shearling and sprayer and they all work super. It goes over all the dyes and acrylics… RTC is the only finish I am going to need." Dale of Grandpa’s Pastime: "I applied RTC over Marine Corp Black mineral spirit dye and had no bleed through even on the flesh side. RTC is the leatherworker’s dream finish." John a Leather Artist: "I’m not sure how best to say this…but it seems to highlight the highlights and helps darken the background." Gary Howard in Farmington, NM writes:"I just had a chance to try your new RTC on a project I was antiquing. It is absolutely the best product I have used in over 35 years of leather work. I just ordered from you and will probably use it for my primary finish from this point forward. You can be sure I will be recommending it to all my friends in leather. Thanks for a great product!"
  22. Mr. Bean was going to teach or is teaching at the Oklahoma cowboy museum either this month or next month(can't remember the exact name...sorry). I would be stoked to go and learn from him, but unfortunately it cannot be done. Big Papa and I had to cancel our trip to Wickenburg......oh well. We got some things on the burner for us Texas leather crafters in the coming months. Until then, photographs will have to do.
  23. Wyoming Slick posted an indepth tool page if you are interested. Do a search here to find it.
