  1. Welcome to the forum. I checked out your site. Very nice work! I hope you enjoy our information here.
  2. Nice work. I am completing my first attache case and I will agree. A lot of hand sewing and minor road blocks, especially when you have never done one. I really like your design. I will post a picture here as soon as I get the front panel sewn on.
  3. Welcome to the forum. Please share your family work with photographs. Enjoy and greetings from Texas, USA
  4. I appreciate all of the comments. As for the "Bier Stein" was only writing down the actual title of the article. This original project wrapped around a typical october fest glass stein with a handle. Appreciate you~
  5. Hunt a deer or elk. Just kidding, J.
  6. I am making one right now that I found in Al Stohlman cases book number #2 (Green one). They are available on Ebay or Tandy's if you have nearby. Every type of case you would be looking for. I made the attache case modified of course to the specs of the customer. I ended up using Chan Geer's Sheridan corner design to make my own design for this case. Good luck.
  7. Here is some of my latest creations. The "Bass" was part of the George Hurst embossing class where we did an eagle's head. We finished so ahead of time that he asked if we wanted to start another project. Duh, of course. So we did the "Bass." I didn't finish it during class, so over time, I organized it for a B-day gift for my boss. He is a big time bass fisherman? The second project was a F.O. Baird Pocket Secretary pattern that was part of our guild's monthly challenge. This one took first place and I won a laser engraved rosewood mechanical pencil with the guild name and the month that I won. Very nice pencil! I lined the interior with black gator. Finally, the 3rd project was something that I was playing around with. I recently told "Deno" the son of Gene Noland that I saw this pattern of his father, which was published as a "beer stein" holder. I decided to make some changes and turn it into a beer koozie. The interior is a foam koozie that I bought at Michael's for .33 cents. Better than the fake stuff in the Tandy kits. Anyways, I hope you like them. Please critque away. I am always looking for ways to better my craft. Thanks for looking.
  8. First, welcome to the forum. Secondly, you have some beautiful work there. Keep the pixs coming. I love the rooster, maybe you can post some 360 photographs? I would like to see how you accomplished this project. Thanks and greetings.
  9. Bearman: The wood handle is something to envy.....beautiful! But I have to ask, is that head a roller skate wheel?
  10. Hey Dustin If you take a look at our guild newsletter last month, our editor started a swivel knife story borrowed from Dave West. Take a gander and sign up to receive the other parts to come. Good luck.
  11. Welcome to the forum. Also, welcome back to the world of leather.
  12. Our member "Hidepounder" will probably be a great start. I have seen one of his briefcases. If not "Bruce Johnson" would be another member you might want to try. He advertises at one of the banners above. Good luck
  13. Welcome to the forum. Enjoy yourself.
  14. I saw this and thought some of you maybe interested. http://cgi.ebay.com/John-Bianchi-Cowboy-We...3A1%7C294%3A200
  15. PM JBird or HidePounder. They started the thread. I will not even try to spell the name of the products, but I believe the supplier is the Hitchingpost? Or maybe they are being sold through the maker? Good luck
  16. Try Springfield Leather, sounds like a top notch outfit. Plus, Kevin is a member here, his photo comes up on the banner above.
  17. I bought one from Phillips. Nice stamp, but it looks like 'zinc'? The impression is not clear which is why I went with the delrin stamp. Much more crisp impression.
  18. I guess I should have asked the question more specifically. What was your father's tooling process? I didn't keep the handles and I turned mine into a Koozie cover. But I kept your father's design. It was really cool. Let me get some 'other' work done here and I will snap a photo to show you.
  19. When I was in the US Army, they had something like this, but it was expanded to art & craft and mechanics for changing your oil and fix your vehicles.
  20. It is how I shipped your alphabet. Had it been a big package, I could have ordered the flat rate boxes off of their site, had them delivered to my home and click and ship. The plus is that they would come and pick it up off my porch.
  21. I don't know what happen, but back when this thread started, I was never able to get the link to work. I read all of the responses on here and it sounds like the man is awesome. I was glad to help him in his time of need.
  22. Yea. I've got a member in our leather guild that works with wallets mainly, but is now getting into belts. He has been looking for a machine. Can you give me an email address I can forward to him and that way you two can talk? Thanks.
  23. Deno: I just finished the pattern from the "Beer Stein" project found in the Make it with leather magazine (Crafttool Corner). Nice pattern. BTW, can I ask you what your father's pattern of tooling was? After the swivel knife for a simple foral pattern, belt or wallet? I tried F.O. way and found it really hard to do it. I was just wondering. Thanks for sharing.
  24. I have used Super Sheen, but stay away from Neat-lac or anyting similar since it will erase the paint. I found out the hard way. I hope this helps.
