Hey, I am proud of you for going outside of your limits. But you did a fine job! You can always take a lighter to it if you want to provide some charring OR you can cut out the voids and filigree with thin black leather.

Very little compares to Ritza thread, IMHO. I do have some 1mm china flat wax thread, but my Tiger thread is much, much better! I have found for my projects that I am sticking to .8mm & .6mm. I do want to try some Lin Cable though. Please keep us up to date. -

You cannot go wrong with a Bob Douglas groover, but the new Craftool Pro freehand groover looks promising. As long as you get the sea air off it after buying it.

It is a Tandy model from a while ago. These were available for purchase. There was also a complete brass model that resembles this one except that one was a prize offered to the store managers who met sales expectations. I have one of each in my small collection.

Question: Did you sharpen or polish the groover tip especially the tools from Tandy? I have been using one since I started, but it is sharp and polish. It is not require much force to get it going, but with some leathers, I find that lightly wetting the leather helps a bit. But it all comes back to the quality of your cutting surface. Good luck

I have gone as far as 4/5 with a light temper, but I would not suggest anything higher no matter what the temper is. Good luck
