  1. Welcome Hugo. Get prepared to have your mind blown with the amount of information you can access on here. BTW, Thank you for your service! 24thID
  2. Nope. It would appear that you received a bottle of edge kote.....what color did you get? Black, brown or neutral?
  3. My understanding is that the saddle competition is coming back with judges.
  4. I usually attend, but this year business has gotten in the way, so I will not be able to make it. I hope everyone has safe travels and hopefully no one will go broke while on the trip! Have fun.
  5. I was introduced to the 'Love Potion' by an UT Artist major. It is available at most craft shops.....Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Joann's etc. Use a coupon and you will save more because this stuff is expensive, but worth it. Oil, spirit or acrylic, doesn't matter. This little container has lasted me quite a spell since I purchased the last one.....almost 1.5 years. Check out this video.
  6. pretty much anything steel that you can sharpen. I had an Xacto knife blade that broke, so I sharpened it and it now cuts.
  7. I ditto Ferg's comments. That stamp above his was made for a special project I have in the works. I am making a limited number of key fobs to raise some money. Ron was so patient with me and my design changes. I appreciate you.
  8. Welcome to the forum Pops.....from down south!
  9. I get my poly cord from Home Depot in the rope section. They have it up to 3/4" thick and sold by the foot. I usually buy 4" lengths for my bags. Lately, I have been using scrap pieces of the same leather glued and folded for my handle insides. Good luck
  10. I complete my projects before I work the edges.....I do have to admit that I do not use Edge Kote....never had good luck with it and really do not like how it turns out. Also, as mentioned above, I actually have Tan Kote in my antique paste and mixed up. Are you buffing after your dye dries especially if you are using black dye? I always lightly buff the leather before I apply my paste. When I apply my Tan Kote, some of the paste does come up, but you want to make sure that stays in the depths of your cuts and tooling to enhance the depth. Good luck
  11. The HO sold by Tandy Leather is marked with the HO logo in green on the underside.
  12. I developed a few classes and teach at my local Tandy Leather. If you are beginning, I would highly suggest these beginner classes.....especially before moving forward with the big investment you WILL make to get going. But if I may, please start investing time on the internet, reading blogs, checking out books and YouTube to gain as much knowledge as possible. I can remember when I started......I think I spent a week, two or maybe even 3 weeks just on LeatherWorker.net. There is so, so much information on here that you can learn quite a bit and level out your learning curve. Either way, welcome to the world of leathercraft.
  13. Take a look at this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/331363508760?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&var=540553954098&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

  18. The organizer Steve Yezek allowed me to share this upcoming class that he organized for LW. If you are in the Wisconsin area the first week of November.........check out this great opportunity to learn from a talented leather worker Britt Nantz. Give Steve a call, I am told that there are only a few spots left.
  19. Even suffering from Cancer, Mr. Porter is surely a star. I have had a few conversations with him and shared a few techniques with my FB people, with his permission, of course! I am glad to hear that he is in remission.
