How To Accurately Design Leather Dies?
King's X replied to bylinesupplyco's topic in How Do I Do That?
I just sent a template out of poster board to a die company. I am trying a new company Milwaukee Steel Rule Dies. According to what I have read, nothing should change....it should turn out perfect or close to it. -
Here you go. A little video to help you under the process.

Always stretch yourself and learn new things, but what you learned before will also help you move forward.

Problem When Antiquing With Wool
King's X replied to Oceanstreetleatherco's topic in How Do I Do That?
I use sheeps wool for my application. Of course, I trim each piece of wool to a low nap. I also run my hand over the piece before using it to make sure all the loose fibers are off. Plus, I have poured some Tan Kote into my Fiebings antique paste and shake well before use. After my paste dries, I use sheeps wool and tan kote to remove the excess paste. As for Chan Geer's or Kris Tanner's finish is commonly referred to as the Sheridan Finish. I am sure you can find the recipe on this forum if you do a short search. I also currently use Clear Lac, Neat Lac, Wyosheen and Bee's Natural RTC finish. They pretty much all work some what the same. Except for Neat Lac, there is no substitute. As for the RTC, it is a great alternative to the fumes the others create especially in a regulated low VOC state. -
Contact Studio N on this forum. I believe the website is www.laser-stamps.com, but I am not positive. Good luck

Send him a message and ask. I do not think he posts all of his tools for sale at once. Good luck

Depending on the person wearing it, you want to consider a lining resistant to sweat. You can finish the edges before you add the lining, but I would do it after adding my liner.

I started with a used set when I started. I have BK grooved edgers and a couple of Ron's. For me, my go to are my BK's are my go too. I agree with Chee......my BK edger in the 000 is not as good as the 1, 2, or 3. I may try to get me one from Ron in the smaller size to try it out. I also ditto Art's comment. I would definitely give Bruce Johnson a serious look to start out. Good luck!

Take a look at Garyipip on YouTube. He just put out a new video on how he saddle stitches. Maybe seeing it another way will help you. Al Stohlman's hand stitching book is my bible. It is a very good reference to have in your shop. Good luck

I believe Anvil Custom Leather company uses press plates for his work. His stuff is pretty unique.

New Makers Stamp Is Hard To Stamp Cleanly
King's X replied to Leatherbyelaine's topic in How Do I Do That?
Making sure to wet your leather and allowing it to soak is a great start. The orange or dead blow hammer works great. Also, when you hold the stamp handle.....make sure to apply downward pressure on the stamp.
