  1. I haven't heard of a FAQ portion of the forum. What is great about this forum is just pop in and ask away. But be careful.....you might get a 1000 answers to one question. Good luck~
  2. Have you tried Seiwa directly or one of their Japanese retailers?
  3. Cut Rite Dies in Texas is another good option. I have used this company and Texas Custom Dies. Both are reputable and good to work with.
  4. There is a member on this forum is that is offering some .08mm thread for sale. Not sure how much you are looking for. Montana Leather also carries Tiger thread, if you are interested.
  5. I use the clip version of this light for adjustable lighting at my stamping desk. It works awesome!
  6. Contact Cobra Steve on this forum. He should be able to help you!
  7. Hello Chris and welcome to the forum!
  8. Someone posted an ad on eBay about a week ago. They are not really hard to make though the painting was a bit more difficult to grasp. Here is a pictorial board I made for a local Tandy Leather class I taught on feathers using the Craftaid. Keep checking the ads.
  9. If you get a chance, invest in the Leatherwork Manual available on eBay, Amazon, Tandy Leather, and other outlets. It was written by Al Stohlman and a couple of others and it is like a bible for tooling. It easy to provide you instructions in the blind, but for me I like to read and see pictures to show me what I need to do. Good luck
  10. Hello Heather and welcome to the forum!
  11. Hello Oldhat and welcome to the forum. Do not forget to share photos of your work. Again, welcome!
  12. I'll take a whack and put my .02 cents in. I know that my opinion doesn't mean much in world circles, but here it is. I believe an artist is an artist no matter what their medium is. If you can turn something into any form of art that others find interesting then you are an artist. Some have years of training and some have no training at all, just plain luck. I know a few that can pick up a pencil or stylus and go to town. In leather work, if you take the time to study and understand your mediums it would certainly help you develop certain skills necessary to better your craft. Being able to work with all types of leather in different formats (plain, carved, painted, embossed, inlay, applique, etc) would certainly make you versatile. As a person, I believe you call yourself what you like. I am a hobbyist, but I do not mind being called a Craftsman, Artist, or newbie. The only term that I do not accept at this point is Master because I feel that I haven't learned enough about my craft to be one nor am I good at one part. Interesting thread.
  13. Though I have never seen one like that pictured here, I use a hydraulic conversion I designed for table top and it has worked out great. I am considering changing it to air hydraulic now to save the arms. There is nothing to it plus if you have any problems or questions, you have this forum to get help.
  14. I believe that Springfield leather also has the clips for sale
  15. I am sorry. I would test your product on a piece of scrap leather by mimicing what you plan on doing on the real project. Dye, water, stain, paint, etc. The product I mentioned made as a resist. I stopped using Resolene a long time ago.
  16. There are some outlets to find what you are looking for. On YouTube, you will find Arthur Porter from Dallas who has quite a few videos on making bags. On eBay, you will find a couple of sellers who may help. CharmingBabe sells books on leathercraft. LZPatterns sells 'patterns' in various forms. I believe he may have a couple of purse patterns that maybe to your liking. The pattern is probably the hardest part due to the size. Once you figure out what size you want, you design and cut from there. I have made a few purses and market bags for the family. All of my patterns are one of kind and never repeated. I am working on one pattern for a local Tandy class in August 2015. It will be a market bag/purse with very simple instructions. I wish you luck. If you need any help, please post it here and many of us will try to help you.
  17. I use the 1.0 and you are right about the size. I would like to give the smaller size a try, but I have too many spools to go through. Good luck
  18. Way to go.....they look really nice!
  19. I have never thinned my Kote out. I use it full strength with a scrap of wool. Good luck
  20. I hope you find a good buyer to carry on your work. Enjoy your retirement!
