I dye my project areas that I want to color. Leave those areas that I want to highlight. Once the dye dries, especially oil dyes, you have to light buff the project to remove any residue before moving forward. At this point, if I want to, I will apply oil to the entire project. Once it soaks in, I will apply a resist product. I have used many, but I seem to have best results with Clear Lac from Springfield Leather or Bee's Natural RTC finish. Once this dries, I will apply my antique gel product......when it dries, I will use a coat of Tan Coat to remove the excess gell and coat the project. I do agree that you should always test any product before you use it. Good luck!

I agree.....you want a highlight use Fiebings Antique gel. The oil dye will only cover the leather. It will not highlight like some Eco Flo products. If our tips do not work, try posting a picture. Here is my latest highlighted project using the Antique Gel and oil dye leather.

I use Tan and Bag Kote all of the time. I have learned some horrible lessons with the drying process. One of the things that I have found to prohibit an even drying coat was my fan during the summer months. If the product is not allowed to dry on its own, it will give you the issues that you were noting including bubbles and streaks. This is what has happened to me previously. Also, you might want to lightly moisten the leather prior to applying the product. This may help it dry evenly. Just a couple of tips. Good luck!

Hell, I just recently cut the tip of my thumb off with a box cutter cutting a straight line. You will never stop cutting yourself. I gave up on band-aids a long time ago.........I always have yellow tape or duck tape around. I just cut a piece of paper towel and snip of tape and wrap it. I call it a battlefield aid....use what you have available.

It takes me about a day or day and half to sew 25" of leather. Mainly because I cannot dedicate all of the time at one sitting for this hobby. But after all of these years, I still like to hand sew.......I have yet to purchase a machine and doubt if I will. Plus it helps me relax and not want to kill my teenage children!!

Bee's Natural RTC finish is another alternative without the vapors. Clear Lac (offered by Springfield Leather) is made from the same company that made Neat Lac (LCI). It has worked well for me. I also have a quart of WyoSheen from Sheridan Outfitters's in Wyoming. It works well. I would agree with others that there will never anything like Neat Lac, so you just have to find a product that works for you. Good luck and welcome back!

Many years back there was a holster company, I believe it was Hoyt Holsters(?). Still not sure about the name, but anyways they made these swivel type holsters primarily for the west coast law enforcement. LAPD and California highway Patrol guys wore these all of the time primarily with the .38 pistols. The pistol gives you an idea how long ago this was. I do not believe they are in business anymore, maybe they sold the business?? The swivel allowed the wearer to customize their holster to whatever length they wanted. This swivel allowed the user to be able to sit down while the holster tilted in the sitting direction. I am not sure how this mechanism works or how they installed it. Sorry.

I have two jumbo rolls I picked up several years back. One is still in the box, both unwaxed. If anyone is interested, I would consider letting them go. I will dig them up see if I can post pictures.

My cards have never fallen out.....I have been using it off and on for almost two years.

Sweet! On a second try, rotate the pocket direction 180 degrees. I think you will find that way to be more convenient. Just give it a try!
