  1. It looks like a Bleed Knot.
  2. I use 3/16" as norm but Al Stohlman's books shows that using the thickness of the leather does take some consideration.
  3. I would run it through the finer side of your stone. After, I would strop it on leather with white rouge and move onto green rough before using it. Make sure to wipe the tip of blade before using to prevent from transferring any rouge to your wet leather. Make sure your strokes on the stone and rough board are even on both sides. Good luck
  4. Milwaukee Steel Dies Cut Rite Dies, Texas Texas Custom Dies International Dies
  5. You can get anywhere from $45 and up (each).
  6. I made my set many years back out of chap leather. I am sure you can use whatever type of fabric like denim. The one thing about chap leather as you will know if you wear chaps that it will be very warm so I would not suggest using it during hot weather. I also made a set for my crash bars, which helped with the cold weather coming at my feet while riding. Good luck
  7. Molding wet leather into the design and shapes of your intention. Allow it to dry and it shall remain that way. Try some scrap leather first. You should try your best to stick with the lower ounce leather......1-2, 3-4 ounce leather. Good luck Sorry......vegetable tanned leather.
  8. check out the Leather Crafters and Saddler's journal magazine. I believe there was a recent article on these slot making projects. I am sure if you call them you can pick up just the single issue though the subscription won't hurt. Nice resource.
  9. Hello Noah and welcome to the forum! Don't forget to post some pictures of your work. Be proud of it.

  11. Have you tried Sheridan Outfitter's? I heard that they may be out, but that wasn't confirmed. Good luck
  12. Hello and welcome to the forum!
  13. I'd check out Barry King, Clay Miller Tools and Bruce Johnson Tools to start.

  15. Hello and welcome to the forum. You have nice work on your site!
  16. Good for you! Merry Christmas!
  17. I have purchased one from Phillips Engraving, and steel stamps. There are some brass makers out there and cast aluminum makers that have had good luck.
  18. The thinnest blade I own is a 3/32" Leather Wranglers blade for my SK-3. I use it manly to cut small leathers and cursive writing. That is pretty much it. The larger blade I own is 5/8" x 1/8" thick blade by Hackbarth. I very rarely use it.
  19. Greetings from north of Austin. I was just in your town last week on business for two days. I will be back the first week of January. I am not aware of any groups in your area. You can check with the Leather Crafters and Saddlers Journal to see if they can help you. If you have a local Tandy Store or leather supplier, they may be able to direct you. Good luck and Merry Christmas!
  20. That is what I did though some new ones were not made back in the day plus your old ones were made better.
  21. Our member Wyoming Slick has posted some pictures of the old tools. I wouldn't say they are rare, but you cannot find them in the stores. Proleathercrafters.com sells mostly the old stuff and their prices seems to be a good price trend. The quality if better.
  22. Check on eBay. I purchased one about 4 years ago in mint condition. The come around, but you have to be on the watch. The other model referred to in this thread is available on eBay for about $133 USD, but I am sure the conversion to your pound would be much different since it comes from the land with a long wall. Good luck!
  23. Hello Steve and welcome to the forum!
  24. I have a couple of binders full as well.
