  1. Irfanview is widely used and safe. At work we call it "Squished Kitty".... due to the image used for the shortcut.
  2. I was going to say that I love how tattoo art seems to transfer very well into leather tooling.
  3. Very nice as usual. I recognize that Japanese tattoo style seat in the back.
  4. Great info. I have a question though, Pecards has been recommended to me for motorcycle leathers due to its chemistry having no long term effects on the break down of leather. Are the other three similar in makeup? And how would the other three compare with longevity in mind?
  5. Call me crazy but I have had alot of luck using a razor scraper to skive. The kind used to remove your inspection sticker from you windshield. The razor doesnt last long but I just keep it sharp with my strope. If the razor is sharp, the leather cuts like butter.
  6. I was talking to a veteran lether worker about a case Im making and he suggested that I harden the leather to hold its shape. He said that he has soaked leather in water with "Lime" added to it. Just regular old Lime from Home Depot. He use to make leather hats that way. For what its worth.....
  7. A little late but I thought I would add that I do the same thing with small zip ties. That way you can tighten slowely as you go. It might even help you might find a problem before you waste time lacing. I also like to start at the center of the back with two needles going the oposite direction. Then I lace a few inches at a time going from one side to the other.
  8. Just for the record, yes it is an Anvil customs seat pan. Good work bro. Im sure Ill need another from you at some point.
  9. Found that book at a Tandy store today. Very simple technique. Ill try to remember to post up some shots of it later.
  10. Actually, the bike owner asked to have smoke comming from the barrels after I finished lacing. But its not sealed yet so Im adding the smoke latter today. Theres a Stoleman technique that only requires simple tooling without a knife cut. Pretty easy to do. I should have waited on the pictures. Im setting up a booth tomorrow at a Harley Dealer event and will have this baby out for a display. But no touchy touchy. Hope I can drum up some residual business. Wish me luck. Thanks for the compliments everyone, it means alot coming from such great craftsmen, and women....craftspeople.... Crafters.... eh....
  11. Admit it, youve got robotic arms...... "This wouldn't happen to be for Kat would it? " I love goth girls.
  12. Great job. Love the illusion. I think this is the first time I noticed your stamp, looks good. Got a close up?
  13. Im glad I ran across this site, Im always amazed at the talent and inginuity found here. I wish I could spend more time on here than I do. Wonderful idea and an open market for it I might add. Great looking work.
  14. Great artestry and imagination. Wonderful coloring. Very good work.
  15. Thats a genious idea. I hadnt thought of that. In fact I already found something that I think will look great. Ill give it a try on a test piece and post it up later. Thanks for the replies.
  16. I should have waited for the water marks to dry but I had to bring it to work to take a picture. My camera gave up on me.
  17. Has anyone done or have tips for tooling smoke? The work in the picture is for a client that requested smoke from the gun barrels. Ive tried a few practice ideas but nothing has looked right yet. I appreciate any suggetions.
  18. Oh my, you have such pretty hands... Nice tut too.
  19. From what Ive been told, it should look somewhat dry to the appearence but if it still feels cool against your face it still has enough moisture in it to tool.
  20. That brings up a question. Being a beginner in the market Im looking to do some simple advertising (business cards, truck sign, etc.) in hopes to lead potential clients to a web site for photos of my work. I can design a site easy enough but does anyone know of "good" free web hosting service that isnt too molested with adds? I eventually plan on upgrading but my hobby hasnt earned me much up to this point.
  21. Thats a wonderful job. Im so glad I ran across this forum. The talent here is remarkable. What a cool idea to do a hat.
